![How to Forward Calls on Android: Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel](https://chargezen.com/og-default.png)

Android phones handle call forwarding better than most people expect. Unlike the iPhone, which only offers always-forward in its settings, Samsung Galaxy phones let you pick all four kinds from the Phone app: always, when busy, when unanswered and when unreachable.

The hard part is that Android isn't one menu. Samsung, Google and your carrier each label things a little differently, and some carriers hide the option entirely. This guide gives the Samsung steps from Samsung's own help page, the Pixel menu path, the Google Fi exception, the carrier codes that work on any Android phone, and how to turn it all off.

## Samsung Galaxy: forward calls

These steps are from Samsung US's "Calling features on your Galaxy phone" page, which applies to current Galaxy phones with the Samsung Phone app. Samsung notes that availability varies by carrier and phone model.

* **1\. Open Phone settings**: Open the Phone app, tap More options (the three vertical dots), then tap Settings.
* **2\. Find forwarding**: Tap Supplementary services, then tap Call forwarding.
* **3\. Pick the type**: Choose Always forward, Forward when busy, Forward when unanswered or Forward when unreachable.
* **4\. Turn it on**: Enter the number to forward calls to, then tap Enable.

You can set more than one type at a time, for example busy calls to a coworker and unanswered calls to your office line. Always forward overrides the others while it's on, since your phone never rings.

## Google Pixel: forward calls

Google's own help pages don't publish a Phone-app forwarding guide, so this path follows AT&T's device guide for the Pixel 7 Pro. Labels can vary with your Android version and carrier.

* **1\. Open Phone settings**: Open the Phone app, tap the menu, then tap Settings.
* **2\. Pick your line**: Tap Calling accounts, then your SIM or carrier.
* **3\. Open forwarding**: Tap Call forwarding and choose the type, such as Always forward.
* **4\. Turn it on**: Enter the number and tap Turn on. A forwarding icon appears in the notification bar.

If Call forwarding isn't listed, your carrier may control the feature. Use the carrier codes below or contact the carrier.

## Pixel owners: Take a Message can get in the way

Newer Pixel phones have **Take a Message**, which answers missed or declined calls on the phone itself and records a message. Google's help page says that if your carrier's conditional call forwarding doesn't work with this feature, you should turn Take a Message off in the Phone app's settings (Menu > Settings > Take a Message). Google also notes that calls answered by Take a Message count as answered for your carrier, which is exactly why a no-answer forward may never fire.

## Google Fi is different

If your carrier is Google Fi, the phone's settings don't control forwarding. Google says it must be set on fi.google.com or in the Google Fi app: open the Home tab, find Phone settings and select Call forwarding. Fi offers three choices: Don't forward, Ring all numbers (your phone and the forwarding numbers ring together) and Always forward (to one number; your phone doesn't ring).

## Carrier codes that work on any Android phone

Dial these from the Phone app keypad and press call. You'll get a confirmation tone or an on-screen message.

| What you want | Verizon | T-Mobile |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Forward all calls | \*72 + 10-digit number | \*\*21\*1 + number + # |
| Forward unanswered calls | \*71 + 10-digit number | \*\*61\*1 + number + # |
| Forward when busy | Not listed | \*\*67\*1 + number + # |
| Forward when unreachable | Not listed | \*\*62\*1 + number + # |
| Turn off | \*73 | ##21#, ##61#, ##67#, ##62#, or ##004# to reset all |

From Verizon's Call Forwarding FAQs and T-Mobile's self-service short codes, checked October 19, 2026. For AT&T, use the phone's menu or ask AT&T; no AT&T page we could read lists cell-phone codes.

## Choosing the right type for a business

* **Always forward**: You're away and someone else should take every call. Remember your phone won't ring at all.
* **Forward when unanswered**: You want first shot at every call, with a backup. This is the most useful setting for a small team. Set the ring time long enough to reach the phone (T-Mobile allows 5 to 30 seconds).
* **Forward when busy**: You're often on calls and don't want a second caller to hit voicemail. Note T-Mobile's caveat that busy can also trigger when you're dialing out.
* **Forward when unreachable**: Your phone is off or out of signal, such as on a flight or a job site with no coverage.

## Test it before you rely on it

* Look for the forwarding icon in the notification bar after you turn it on, or the confirmation message after a code.
* Call your number from a different phone, ideally on a different carrier.
* For always-forward, your Android phone should not ring and the forward-to phone should.
* For no-answer forwarding, let it ring out and time how long it takes to reach the other phone. If your voicemail answers first, shorten the delay.
* Let the forwarded call go unanswered once. It usually lands in the forward-to phone's voicemail, so check that greeting.
* Send yourself a text. It still arrives on your Android phone, because call forwarding does not move texts.

If any step doesn't behave as expected, our guide to [call forwarding not working](https://chargezen.com/blog/call-forwarding-not-working) walks through the usual causes, from missing signal to Take a Message.

## How to turn off call forwarding on Android

* Samsung: Phone app > More options > Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding, open each type and turn it off.
* Pixel: Phone app > Settings > Calling accounts > your SIM > Call forwarding, open each type and tap Turn off.
* Codes: \*73 on Verizon; on T-Mobile, ##004# resets all call forwarding at once.
* Google Fi: choose Don’t forward in the Fi app or on fi.google.com.

## What Chargezen does instead

Chargezen doesn't forward calls, and it doesn't sell phone lines, desk phones or forwarding. It takes a different approach to the problem forwarding usually solves. [Concierge answers calls and texts on your business number](https://chargezen.com/concierge/channels/phone), around the clock: a new US number from Chargezen, or the number your customers already know, [brought over to Chargezen](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/bring-your-number). It recognizes the caller, looks up their orders and handles the request on the call.

When a person should take over, Concierge alerts your team in the Finn app and the browser, and emails or texts the teammates you pick. A teammate listens in, taps Join the call, and Concierge tells the caller they're there, so nobody starts over. From the Finn app on iPhone or Mac, a teammate can also transfer the call to another teammate. The call, its transcript and every text and email with that customer stay in one conversation. See [human handoff](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/human-handoff) and [how joining and transferring calls works](https://chargezen.com/docs/concierge/phone/join-and-transfer-calls).

Android teammates can join from the browser. The Finn app is on iPhone and Mac.

To be plain about the limits: Chargezen has no call forwarding, simultaneous ring, ring groups, phone menu or business-hours routing, and it offers US (+1) numbers only. If you need calls to ring a list of phones by schedule, a VoIP phone system does that; our comparisons with [Google Voice](https://chargezen.com/compare/google-voice), [Grasshopper](https://chargezen.com/compare/grasshopper) and [RingCentral](https://chargezen.com/compare/ringcentral) say where each one fits.

Concierge Starter is $20 a month with 20,000 credits. Pro is $199 a month with 199,000 credits, or $1,990 a year. Phone and text charges are billed as used, with no per-user fees. See [pricing](https://chargezen.com/pricing).

## Frequently asked questions

## Where is call forwarding on my Samsung?

Phone app > More options (three dots) > Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding.

## Why is call forwarding greyed out or missing on my Android phone?

Usually your carrier controls the feature (Google Fi always does), the phone has no signal, or a work profile restricts it. Use your carrier's codes or app.

## Can I forward only calls from certain people?

Not with standard carrier forwarding on a cell phone. Some landline services offer selective forwarding, and some VoIP apps support rules by caller.

## Can I forward calls from an Android phone to an iPhone or a landline?

Yes. Forwarding sends calls to a phone number, not to a type of phone, so any number that can take calls works. Carriers set limits on the destination: Verizon, for example, requires an active, voice-capable US number with 10 digits and doesn't forward to international numbers. Forwarded calls can use minutes on your plan, even when they go to a landline.

## Does it matter which SIM I forward on a dual-SIM phone?

Yes. Forwarding is set per line. On a Pixel, Calling accounts lists each SIM separately; pick the line your customers call, then test it from another phone.

## Does call forwarding forward texts on Android?

No. Carrier call forwarding moves calls only.
