![What You Can Ask ChatGPT About Your Shopify Store (With Chargezen Connected)](https://chargezen.com/og-default.png)

Most store owners already have ChatGPT open somewhere. They use it to write product descriptions and reply drafts, then switch to Shopify to look up the order the reply is about. Connecting Chargezen removes that switch: ChatGPT can look at your actual store and answer the everyday questions you'd otherwise click through three admin screens to answer.

This post is a list of those questions, the ones a store owner asks on a normal Tuesday. For each group, it says what ChatGPT reads to answer, and at the end, what it can't do. If you want longer analyses and prompt patterns, our companion post on [Claude prompts and playbooks](https://chargezen.com/blog/claude-prompts-for-shopify) covers that side.

## Connect ChatGPT to Chargezen

* **1\. Add Chargezen as a custom connector**: In ChatGPT, add a connector (a remote MCP server) with the server URL `https://mcp.chargezen.com/mcp`.
* **2\. Sign in**: Sign in to Chargezen when ChatGPT asks, or create an account on the same screen.
* **3\. Choose the workspace and allow**: Review what ChatGPT may do in that workspace, then select Allow.
* **4\. Ask**: ChatGPT works in that workspace as you, with your permissions.

Which ChatGPT plans can add custom connectors changes often. When we checked OpenAI's help article [Developer mode and full MCP connectors in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-apps-and-full-mcp-connectors-in-chatgpt-beta) on October 18, 2026, it described custom MCP connectors as a beta for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, turned on through developer mode in workspace settings. Check the current article for your plan. The [ChatGPT integration](https://chargezen.com/concierge/integrations/chatgpt) page and the [MCP server reference](https://chargezen.com/developers/mcp) have the Chargezen side.

## Morning questions: orders and shipping

* "How many orders came in yesterday, and what was the total?"
* "Which orders from the last seven days haven't shipped yet?"
*   "What's the status of order #1042?"
* "Did anything ship late last week?"
* "Which of our locations is fulfilling the most orders this month?"

ChatGPT reads your Shopify orders, fulfillment orders, store locations and the fulfillment status and shipment reports directly.

## Stock and best sellers

* "What were our ten best sellers last month?"
* "How much stock is left of each best seller?"
* "Which products are running low?"
* "Which products haven't sold at all in the last 60 days?"
* "Is the large size of the oatmeal hoodie in stock?"

These use the sales-by-SKU and inventory reports and product search. ChatGPT can turn the answer into a reorder list or a note to your supplier, which you then send yourself.

## A customer is on the other line

When a customer emails, calls or messages you on social media, ChatGPT can pull up who they are before you reply.

* "Find the customer jane@example.com and show me her recent orders and subscriptions."
* "When did this customer last order, and what did they buy?"
* "Has order #1042 shipped? Write me a short, friendly reply to the customer with the status."

The last one is the useful pattern: ChatGPT looks up the facts, then writes the reply. You copy it and send it from wherever the customer wrote to you.

## Subscriptions

* "How many active subscribers do we have?"
* "What were last month's new subscriptions, cancellations and monthly recurring revenue, and who cancelled?"
* "Which subscription plans do we offer, and at what prices?"
* "Skip Jane's next subscription order."

ChatGPT reads subscriptions, plans and the subscription movement report directly. A skip or cancellation is a change, so ChatGPT asks you to confirm first, and Chargezen checks you have permission. These tools cover subscriptions that run on Chargezen and Shopify; any still billed by Recharge or Stripe aren't included.

## Your own policies and know-how

* "What does our return policy say about opened items?"
* "What do we tell customers about international shipping?"
* "Do we have anything written about wholesale pricing?"

ChatGPT searches and reads the knowledge in your Chargezen workspace, the same policies and help content Concierge answers customers from. If the answer is wrong or missing, that is worth fixing in the workspace, because customers would get the same answer.

## What customers are saying

ChatGPT doesn't read your customer conversations directly. It asks Concierge, which reads your web chat, text, WhatsApp and email conversations and sends its answer back into the chat. Start these questions with "Ask Concierge".

* "Ask Concierge which customers wrote to us in the last 48 hours and still haven't had a reply."
* "Ask Concierge what customers complained about most this week."
* "Ask Concierge to list customers who texted us about an order this week, with the order each one asked about."
* "Ask Concierge which text campaign brought in the most revenue this quarter."
* "Ask Concierge to draft replies for the customers still waiting. Don't send anything."

Drafts stay in ChatGPT. Concierge follows your [approval rules](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/approvals) for any work it does, and if something needs your yes, the request appears in the ChatGPT chat.

## Monday-morning questions

Once a week, a few bigger questions are worth asking together. Concierge answers these with its [analysis playbooks](https://chargezen.com/concierge/playbooks).

* "Ask Concierge which good customers are about to lapse."
* "Ask Concierge which products are most often bought together."
* "Ask Concierge for our refund rate by month over the last 90 days, and which products drive it."
* "Ask Concierge how our average order value has moved this year."

## A five-minute daily check

If you only ask ChatGPT about your store once a day, make it these three questions, in this order. Together they tell you whether anything is stuck, whether stock will run out and whether anyone is waiting on you.

* "Which orders from the last three days haven't shipped yet, and why might they be waiting?"
* "Which of our best sellers will run out first at this month's pace?"
* "Ask Concierge which customers are still waiting on a reply, oldest first."

Keep them in one ChatGPT conversation so you can scroll back and see what changed since yesterday.

## End-of-month questions

At the end of the month, a few questions turn a pile of orders into a short story you can act on. Ask them in one go and ask ChatGPT for a one-page summary at the end.

* "What were this month's sales by product, compared with last month?"
* "How many subscriptions started and ended this month, and what happened to monthly recurring revenue?"
* "Which products have we stopped selling, and how much stock is left of each?"
* "Ask Concierge what customers contacted us about most this month."
* "Now write a one-page summary of the month with three things to try next month."

ChatGPT pulls the numbers from your store, then does the writing. Check any number that surprises you before you share the summary.

## What ChatGPT can't do with Chargezen

Calls, call recordings and voicemail aren't available from ChatGPT or Claude, and nothing you do there sends a text or email to a customer. Texts and customer conversations are read by asking Concierge, not directly. The direct subscription tools cover subscriptions that run on Chargezen and Shopify; subscriptions still billed by Recharge or Stripe aren't included.

* It can't place calls, play recordings or read voicemail.
* It can't send texts, emails or chat replies to customers. You send them from Chargezen or wherever the customer wrote.
* It can only do what you can do. If your teammate role can't change subscriptions, neither can ChatGPT.

## Getting good answers

* **Give a time window**: "Last 30 days" or "yesterday", not "lately".
* **Use order numbers and emails**: Exact references find the right record first time.
* **Ask for the format you need**: "As a table", "just the names", or "a two-line reply to the customer".
* **Check surprising numbers**: Ask which report it used, then compare it with your admin if something looks off.

## Safety and access

* One connection covers one workspace, and ChatGPT acts as the teammate who connected it.
* Sign-in uses standard OAuth. You never paste a password or API key into ChatGPT.
* Reading data doesn't use credits. Work you ask Concierge to do uses workspace credits when it runs on Chargezen-managed AI models.
* Every connected assistant is listed in Chargezen under Concierge, then Deploy, then Channels, then External MCP servers. Disconnecting stops access immediately.

## Frequently asked questions

## Can ChatGPT see my Shopify store without Chargezen?

Not your private data, like orders and customers. It needs a connection to a system that holds that data and checks your permissions. Chargezen is that connection.

## Is my store data used to train ChatGPT?

That depends on your ChatGPT plan and data settings, which OpenAI controls. Check your plan's data controls before connecting any business data.

## Can ChatGPT reply to my customers?

No. It can look up the facts and draft a reply in the chat, but it doesn't send anything to customers.

## Can my whole team connect?

Yes. Each teammate connects their own ChatGPT, and each connection keeps that teammate's permissions.
