Claude is good at reading, writing and reasoning. On its own, it knows nothing about your store. Connect it to Chargezen and it can look up your orders, subscriptions, customers and stock, make a few careful changes with your permission, and hand bigger jobs to Concierge, Chargezen's AI agent.

This guide shows how to connect, then gives prompts you can copy, grouped by job: orders, subscriptions, customer conversations, refunds and reports. The last section covers playbooks, Concierge's ready-made analyses, which are where Claude saves the most time.

## How the connection works

Chargezen runs a server that speaks the [Model Context Protocol](https://chargezen.com/glossary/model-context-protocol) (MCP), the open standard Claude uses to work with other software. When you connect, Claude gets two kinds of tools:

* **Direct tools**: Claude reads orders, fulfillment, subscriptions, customers, products, stock and sales reports itself, and can skip or cancel a subscription when you confirm.
* **Ask Concierge**: Claude passes a request to Concierge, which reads your customer conversations and texts, runs analysis playbooks on its own computer, and does work that needs your approval. Concierge's answer comes back into the Claude chat.

Claude works as you, with your teammate permissions in that workspace. If you can't do something in Chargezen, Claude can't either.

## Connect Claude to Chargezen

* **1\. Add a custom connector**: In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it Chargezen and paste the server URL `https://mcp.chargezen.com/mcp`.
* **2\. Sign in to Chargezen**: Claude opens the Chargezen sign-in. New to Chargezen? You can create an account on the same screen.
* **3\. Choose a workspace and allow**: Pick the workspace, review what Claude may do, and select Allow. One connection covers one workspace.
* **4\. Turn it on in a chat**: In a new chat, open the + menu, then Connectors, and switch Chargezen on.

Anthropic's help article [About custom connectors](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-about-custom-connectors-remote-mcp) said, when we checked it on October 18, 2026, that custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, that Free accounts can add one, and that on Team and Enterprise an owner adds the connector under Organization settings before members connect. Menu names change, so check it if yours look different. You can also connect from Claude Code on your computer. The full technical reference is on the [Chargezen MCP server page](https://chargezen.com/developers/mcp).

## Prompts for orders and fulfillment

* "Which orders from the last seven days haven't shipped yet? Group them by how many days they've been waiting."
* "Find order #1042 and tell me what's in it, where it's going and whether it has shipped."
* "Which products sold the most last month, and how much stock is left of each?"
* "List products with less than two weeks of stock at last month's sales pace."
* "Show me last week's shipments and flag any that look stuck."

These use the direct order, fulfillment, sales-by-SKU, inventory and shipment reports. Claude does the arithmetic and the grouping; the numbers come from your store.

## Prompts for subscriptions

* "What were last month's new subscriptions, cancellations and monthly recurring revenue, and who cancelled?"
* "Find the customer jane@example.com and show me her subscriptions and recent orders."
* "Skip Jane's next subscription order."
* "Compare cancellations this month with last month and tell me which plans they came from."

Skips and cancellations are changes, so Claude asks you to confirm before it runs them, and Chargezen checks you have permission to change subscriptions. These direct tools work on subscriptions that run on Chargezen and Shopify. If you are still moving subscriptions over from Recharge or Stripe, those aren't included until they move.

## Prompts for customer conversations

Claude reads conversations by asking Concierge, so start these with "Ask Concierge".

* "Ask Concierge to sum up last week's customer conversations: how many came in, on which channels, and the five most common topics."
* "Ask Concierge which customers wrote to us in the last 48 hours and still haven't had a reply."
* "Ask Concierge to group this month's complaints by theme, with one example message for each."
* "Ask Concierge to draft a follow-up for each customer still waiting on us. Don't send anything; I'll review them here."
* "Ask Concierge how many texts we sent and received last month, and how many failed to deliver."

The drafts stay in your Claude chat. Nothing you do from Claude sends a text or email to a customer; you send replies from Chargezen.

## Prompts for refunds

* "Ask Concierge for our refund rate by month over the last 90 days, and which products drive it."
* "Ask Concierge which refund reasons grew this quarter, with example orders."
* "Ask Concierge to refund the damaged item on order #1042."

The first two are analysis. The third is an action, so Concierge follows your [approval rules](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/approvals): if refunds need a yes, its request comes back into the Claude chat and you answer there.

## Playbooks: ready-made analyses

Some questions need more than a lookup: a cohort table, a segmentation, a basket analysis. Concierge has a library of [analysis playbooks](https://chargezen.com/concierge/playbooks) it runs on its own computer, with your orders and customers, and shows its work. Name the playbook in your prompt.

| Playbook | Prompt to try |
| --- | --- |
| Cohort retention | "Ask Concierge to run the cohort retention playbook for customers whose first order was this year." |
| RFM segments | "Ask Concierge to build RFM segments and tell me which good customers are about to lapse." |
| Product affinity | "Ask Concierge which products are most often bought together." |
| Refund analysis | "Ask Concierge for our refund rate by month over the last 90 days, and which products drive it." |
| Customer lifetime value | "Ask Concierge to estimate customer lifetime value by first product bought." |
| Repeat tiers | "Ask Concierge how many customers have ordered once, twice and three or more times." |
| Subscription analytics | "Ask Concierge to run subscription analytics for the last six months." |
| AOV trend | "Ask Concierge how our average order value has moved month by month this year." |

Longer analyses take a few minutes. Ask Claude to check back for the reply.

A good pattern: run a playbook, then ask Claude to turn the result into something useful, such as a one-page summary for your team or three things to try next month. Claude is good at the writing; Concierge does the counting.

## Tips for better prompts

* **Name the time window**: "Last 30 days" or "since September 1" beats "recently".
* **Say what you want back**: A table, a list of names, a short summary, or a draft.
* **Start with "Ask Concierge" for conversations and playbooks**: That tells Claude to delegate instead of guessing from the direct tools.
* **Use exact references**: An order number or customer email finds the right record first time.
* **Ask where a number came from**: If a result surprises you, ask which report or playbook it used.

## A weekly routine you can reuse

Prompts are most useful when they become a habit. Many owners keep one Claude chat for a weekly review and paste the same few prompts every Monday. Here is a routine that takes about fifteen minutes:

* **1\. What shipped and what didn't**: "Which orders from the last seven days haven't shipped yet?"
* **2\. What changed in subscriptions**: "What were last week's new subscriptions and cancellations, and who cancelled?"
* **3\. What customers said**: "Ask Concierge to sum up last week's customer conversations and the five most common topics."
* **4\. Who is waiting**: "Ask Concierge which customers still haven't had a reply."
* **5\. One deeper question**: Pick one playbook a week, such as RFM segments or refund analysis, and ask Claude to turn the result into three actions.

Ask Claude to keep the same format each week, such as one short table per step, so you can compare weeks at a glance.

## What Claude can't do here

Calls, call recordings and voicemail aren't available from ChatGPT or Claude, and nothing you do there sends a text or email to a customer. Texts and customer conversations are read by asking Concierge, not directly. The direct subscription tools cover subscriptions that run on Chargezen and Shopify; subscriptions still billed by Recharge or Stripe aren't included.

## Permissions, credits and disconnecting

* Claude acts as the teammate who connected it, and Chargezen checks that teammate's access on every request.
* Reading data doesn't use credits. Work you ask Concierge to do uses workspace credits when it runs on Chargezen-managed AI models.
* You can see and disconnect every connected assistant in Chargezen under Concierge, then Deploy, then Channels, then External MCP servers. Disconnecting stops access immediately.

## How Chargezen helps

The connection is part of Concierge. Read what it covers on [ChatGPT and Claude](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/chatgpt-and-claude) and the [Claude integration](https://chargezen.com/concierge/integrations/claude) page, browse the [playbook library](https://chargezen.com/concierge/playbooks), or write your own methods as [playbooks](https://chargezen.com/concierge/features/playbooks) for Concierge to follow.

Concierge Starter is $20 a month with 20,000 credits. Pro is $199 a month with 199,000 credits, or $1,990 a year. You can also connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic account. See [pricing](https://chargezen.com/pricing).

## Frequently asked questions

## Does Claude need my Shopify password or an API key?

No. You sign in to Chargezen when Claude asks, and Chargezen uses standard OAuth sign-in. Claude never sees your Shopify login.

## Can Claude change orders or subscriptions on its own?

Claude asks you to confirm before it skips or cancels a subscription, and Chargezen checks your permissions. Work handed to Concierge follows your approval rules.

## Can Claude text or email my customers?

No. It can read conversations through Concierge and draft replies in the chat, but nothing is sent from Claude.

## Is this the same as running Concierge on Anthropic models?

No. Here Claude is the app you type in. Which model powers Concierge's own agents is a separate setting.
