# Installation Guide

Step-by-step guide to installing CheckoutOS on your Shopify store

This guide provides detailed installation instructions for CheckoutOS. Follow these steps to get CheckoutOS fully configured on your Shopify store.

## Before You Begin

##### What You'll Need

*   Shopify store admin access
*   About 15-30 minutes for setup
*   At least one product to use for testing

## Step 1: Install the Chargezen App

#### Access the Shopify App Store

Log into your Shopify admin and navigate to **Apps → Shopify App Store**, or visit [apps.shopify.com/chargezen](https://apps.shopify.com/chargezen) directly.

#### Click "Add app"

On the Chargezen app listing, click **"Add app"** to begin installation. You'll be redirected to authorize the app.

#### Authorize Permissions

Review and accept the required permissions:

*   **Products** — To display upsell offers
*   **Orders** — To track conversion and analytics
*   **Checkout** — To show post-purchase offers
*   **Customers** — For personalized recommendations

## Step 2: Configure CheckoutOS

After installation, you'll be taken to the Chargezen dashboard. Navigate to **CheckoutOS** in the sidebar to begin configuration.

#### Enable CheckoutOS

On the CheckoutOS overview page, toggle **"Enable CheckoutOS"** to activate the module. This enables all checkout optimization features.

#### Configure Global Settings

Set your default preferences:

*   **Default discount type** — Percentage or fixed amount
*   **Timer duration** — How long offers display (or unlimited)
*   **Branding** — Match your store's colors and fonts

#### Enable Post-Purchase Page

Go to **Settings → Post-Purchase** and click **"Enable"**. For Shopify Plus, this integrates with checkout extensibility. For other plans, we create a compliant post-purchase page.

## Step 3: Shopify Plus Configuration (Optional)

If you're on Shopify Plus, additional setup enables native checkout features.

##### Shopify Plus Only

Skip this section if you're not on Shopify Plus. The features below require checkout extensibility, which is Plus-exclusive.

#### Enable Checkout Extensibility

In your Shopify admin, go to **Settings → Checkout** and ensure you're using the new checkout extensibility (not checkout.liquid).

#### Add CheckoutOS Extension

In the Chargezen dashboard, go to **CheckoutOS → Checkout Extensions**and click **"Install Extension"**. This adds our blocks to your checkout.

#### Configure Extension Placement

Use Shopify's checkout editor to position CheckoutOS elements (trust badges, progress bars, etc.) where you want them in your checkout flow.

## Step 4: Test Your Installation

Before going live, verify everything works correctly:

# Enable test mode in Settings → Test Mode

1. Create a test upsell offer
2. Place a test order (use Bogus Gateway)
3. Complete checkout
4. Verify upsell appears
5. Accept the upsell
6. Check order includes upsell item
7. Review analytics in dashboard
```

##### Don't Skip Testing

Always test with real checkout flows before launching. This catches configuration issues and ensures a smooth customer experience.

## Troubleshooting

**App won't install** — Ensure you have admin access and try clearing browser cache.

**Upsells don't appear** — Check that the offer is published and targeting rules match your test order.

**Checkout extensions missing** — Verify you're on Shopify Plus with checkout extensibility enabled.
