# Credits and usage

What Concierge credits pay for, what never uses them, how to read the Credits page, buy more and keep spending predictable.

Last updated: 2026-10-19

Concierge runs on credits. One balance is shared by Concierge and Finn, and **1,000 credits = $1**. Your plan includes a monthly amount, and you can buy more whenever you need them.

## What your plan includes

*   **Starter**: $20/month, with 20,000 credits a month.
*   **Pro**: $199/month or $1,990/year, with 199,000 credits a month.

Phone and text charges are billed as used, separately from credits. See [pricing](https://chargezen.com/pricing).

## What uses credits

* **Agent work on Chargezen-managed AI models.** Each time an agent thinks through a request, plans a job or writes a reply on a Chargezen Managed model, that model call is paid from credits. Bigger jobs with more steps use more than a quick answer.
* **Speech.** When shoppers talk to an agent in website chat, or your team calls an agent from admin chat, Chargezen-managed speech is paid from credits at the provider's actual cost, with no markup.
* **Asking Concierge from ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant.** The work Concierge does for you uses credits the same way as in Chargezen.
* **AI features you turn on.** AI SMS drafts, AI reply suggestions and AI outreach emails use credits when they run on Chargezen's model. They're off until a teammate turns them on.

## What never uses credits

* Model calls on your own provider key (see [Bring your own model](https://chargezen.com/docs/concierge/bring-your-own-model)). Your provider bills you; Chargezen never charges credits for them.
* Reading your workspace data from a connected assistant: orders, subscriptions, customers, reports and knowledge.
* Filling in the admin screens yourself: agent settings, channels, playbooks and memories. (Asking an agent in chat to help with setup is agent work, and uses credits like any other request.)

Why there is no price list per task

The same request can take one step or twenty, depending on the job and the model. Rather than guess, the Credits page shows what you actually spent this month, so you can see the real cost of the work your agents do.

## Read the Credits page

Go to **Settings > Credits**. You'll find:

* **Total available**: your balance in dollars and credits.
* **This month**: confirmed cost so far for **AI models** and **Speech**, with the number of managed AI model calls and speech requests.
* **Features that use credits**: each AI feature, whether it's on, and who pays for it. Teammates who manage settings can click **Turn on** or **Turn off**.
* **Open speech costs**: speech requests still waiting for the provider's final cost. When those costs are confirmed, the total and your balance can change, so click refresh to check.
* **Recent transactions**: your monthly package and top-ups, with date, type and amount.

## Buy more credits

1

#### Enter an amount

Under **Buy credits**, type a whole-dollar amount from $20 to $1,000. The field shows how many credits you'll get.

2

#### Pay

Click **Add credits** and finish the secure checkout.

3

#### Check the balance

You come back to the Credits page with "Payment received." Your credits appear within a few seconds; click refresh if they haven't yet.

## When credits run out

When your balance reaches zero, add credits to keep using website voice and asking Concierge from an AI assistant. Customer text chat stays available, so customers still get answers. AI features that run on Chargezen's model, such as AI SMS drafts, stop until you add credits; the editor shows an **Add credits** link.

## Keep spending predictable

* Check **This month** on the Credits page once a week while you're getting started.
* Give each agent only the channels and jobs it needs. An agent that answers fewer, clearer requests spends less.
* Write clear instructions and [playbooks](https://chargezen.com/docs/concierge/playbooks), so agents spend fewer steps working out what you want (see [Best practices](https://chargezen.com/docs/concierge/best-practices)).
* Turn on only the AI features your team uses.
* If you have a provider agreement, run some agents on your own key.

## Troubleshooting and FAQ

### Do Finn and Concierge use the same credits?

Yes. They're the same agent under two names, with one balance.

### Why is my balance below zero?

Speech costs are confirmed after the fact. If confirmed costs arrive after your balance reached zero, it can dip below. Add credits to bring it back up.

### I paid but my credits aren't showing

Wait a few seconds and click refresh. If they still don't appear, email [support@chargezen.com](mailto:support@chargezen.com) with the date and amount.

### Who can turn AI features on or off?

Teammates who can manage settings. Others see the features and their state, but not the buttons.
