# Save rate

Cancellation save rate

Retention

The share of subscribers who start to cancel but stay after seeing an offer, such as a pause, skip, swap or discount.

## What is Save rate?

Save rate measures how well your cancellation flow keeps people. Everyone who starts to cancel is counted, and anyone who accepts an alternative and keeps their subscription counts as saved. **What a save looks like:** - Pausing for a month or two instead of cancelling. - Skipping the next order because they have too much. - Swapping to a different flavor, size or product. - Changing how often deliveries come. - Taking a discount on the next order. **Match the offer to the reason.** A subscriber who says "I have too much" wants a skip or a slower schedule, not a discount. One who says "it's too expensive" may stay for a lower price or a smaller size. Asking for a reason first and then showing a matching offer saves more people than one generic offer. **Measure what happens next.** A save that cancels a week later isn't much of a save. Track whether saved subscribers renew at least once or twice afterward, and how much revenue they bring in. **Keep cancelling easy.** Save offers should be one honest step, with a clear way to finish cancelling. Many auto-renewal laws require a simple online cancel, and subscribers who feel trapped leave angry and dispute charges. **How Chargezen handles it:** Chargezen's cancellation flow asks for a reason, shows the save offers you set for it, and records which offers subscribers accept, while always letting them finish cancelling.

## Formula

Save rate = Subscribers who accept a save offer and stay ÷ Subscribers who start the cancellation flow × 100

## Example

In June, 400 subscribers started to cancel. 72 paused, 40 skipped an order and 24 swapped products. The save rate is 136 ÷ 400 = 34%.

## Why Save rate Matters

Keeping a subscriber who was about to leave costs far less than winning a new one.
