# Skip rate

Subscription skip rate

Retention

The share of scheduled subscription orders that subscribers skip in a period.

## What is Skip rate?

Skip rate tracks how often subscribers choose to miss an order instead of receiving it. A skip keeps the subscription alive, but the order, and its revenue, doesn't happen. **Why skips are good news and bad news:** - **Good:** a subscriber who skips is still a subscriber. A one-tap skip is often what stops a cancellation when someone has too much product. - **Bad:** a rising skip rate can be an early sign that a schedule is too frequent, the product isn't being used, or interest is fading. **What to look for:** - **Repeated skips** by the same subscriber. Two or three in a row often come before a cancel. - **Skips by product and frequency.** If a monthly plan for a product that lasts six weeks gets skipped a lot, offer a 6-week option. - **Seasonal patterns,** such as summer or holiday travel. **How to respond:** - Suggest a slower frequency to subscribers who skip often. - Send a "running low?" message with a ship-now option when someone has skipped for a while. - Make skipping easy anyway. Hiding it pushes people to cancel. **How Chargezen handles it:** subscribers skip from the customer portal or a one-tap link in your emails, and a workflow can follow up automatically when someone skips an order.

## Formula

Skip rate = Orders skipped ÷ Orders scheduled × 100

## Example

In August a brand had 5,000 scheduled orders and 450 were skipped, a 9% skip rate. Most skips came from the monthly plan of a 45-day product, so the brand added a 6-week option.

## Why Skip rate Matters

Skips keep subscribers you might otherwise lose, and watching the rate tells you when a schedule or product needs a change.
