SmartyTap in Claude lets you build, check and turn on SmartyTap email flows by asking Claude. Claude connects to Chargezen's MCP server at mcp.chargezen.com/mcp/smartytap, signs in as you, and can only do what your Chargezen permissions and the scopes you approved allow. ## Every SmartyTap tool. The tools your AI app can use on the SmartyTap connection, and the permission each one needs. Campaign tools (one-off sends) are not part of the connection. ## Connect in a few minutes. 1. 1 ### Add the server In Claude, add a custom connector (remote MCP server) with the URL https://mcp.chargezen.com/mcp/smartytap. 2. 2 ### Sign in to Chargezen Pick the workspace to connect and the scopes to allow: read, write, send, or any mix. 3. 3 ### Describe the flow Tell Claude the trigger, who should get it and what the email should say. It writes the email and saves a Draft. 4. 4 ### Check, then turn it on Preview the email in the chat. When it looks right, ask Claude to turn the flow on. ## Three scopes, chosen when you connect. You approve scopes on the Chargezen sign-in screen. Your teammate permissions in Chargezen still apply on top. Reads the options authoring\_options returns your triggers, senders, lists, segments and personalization tokens, so the flow uses what your workspace really has. Writes the email Claude writes the subject, preview text and body itself, with tokens like {{ profile.first\_name }}. Marketing emails include {{ unsubscribe\_url }}. Previews it preview\_email renders the email with sample data and lists any errors before anything is saved. Saves a Draft create saves the flow as a Draft. A Draft sends nothing, and you can open it in the SmartyTap flow builder. Turns it on activate checks every step. If something is missing, like a sender, the flow stays Draft and the reply says what to fix. ## Prompts to try. Copy one into Claude after you connect. Each says which tools it uses. ### Build a flow Saves a Draft. Nothing sends until it’s on. * “Send an email to customers each time their order gets the vip tag. Thank them and tell them about free shipping on their next order. Save it as a draft.” Reads options, writes the email, previews it and creates a Draft on the Order tags added trigger. * “Build a browse abandonment flow: when someone views a product and hasn’t ordered, wait 4 hours, then email them about that product. Only once every 30 days.” Creates a Draft with the Viewed Product trigger, an exit filter and 30-day re-entry. * “Create a first-order thank-you flow that waits two hours after the order, then sends a short note from our founder.” Creates a Draft on Order created with no re-entry. ### Check and edit Reads, previews and edits. * “List my SmartyTap flows and tell me which ones are on.” Uses list. * “Show me a preview of the email in my thank-you flow with sample data.” Uses get and preview\_email. Sends nothing. * “In my backorder flow, add a three-day wait and a second email asking if they still want the item.” Uses get and update. Claude asks before saving the change. ### Turn on and off Needs the smartytap:send scope. * “Turn on the vip tag flow.” Uses activate. Claude asks first; if a step isn’t ready, the reply lists what to fix. * “Turn off browse abandonment while we restock.” Uses deactivate. Waiting customers are cancelled and queued emails pause. ### Plan with your catalog Product search finds products an email can feature. * “Find our cold brew products and draft a fulfilled-order follow-up with brewing tips for each.” Uses product search, then creates a Draft with a Split on SKUs. * “Which triggers and personalization tokens can my flows use?” Uses authoring\_options. Flows built in the flow builder with steps the tools can’t edit come back without a definition; edit those in the builder. Nothing here sends a one-off email: flows only email customers after a trigger, once they’re on. ## Good habits. ### Start with read and write Connect with smartytap:read and smartytap:write first. Your AI app can draft and preview flows, and you turn them on in Chargezen. ### Preview before you save Ask for a preview of every email. It catches missing tokens and broken links before the flow exists. ### Name the trigger plainly "Each time an order gets the vip tag" maps cleanly to the Order tags added trigger filtered on that tag. ## Let every order start the right email. Yes. Connect Claude to mcp.chargezen.com/mcp/smartytap and ask for the flow you want. Claude reads your triggers and senders, writes the email, saves the flow as a Draft and turns it on when you ask. ### Which tools does the SmartyTap connection have? Eight flow tools: authoring\_options, list, get, preview\_email, create, update, activate and deactivate, plus the connection profile and product search. There are no campaign tools for one-off sends. ### Will Claude turn a flow on without asking me? Creating a flow only saves a Draft, which sends nothing. Turning a flow on or off, and editing a flow, are marked as changes that affect customers, so Claude asks you first under its usual tool-approval settings. You can also leave out the smartytap:send scope and turn flows on yourself in Chargezen. ### What can Claude see in my workspace? Only what the scopes you approved and your own Chargezen permissions allow. The SmartyTap endpoint serves SmartyTap tools only. One connection works in one workspace and acts as the teammate who connected it. ### Do I need a particular Claude plan? You need a Claude plan that lets you add custom connectors (remote MCP servers). Check Claude’s connector settings for your plan. ### How much does SmartyTap cost?
