The problem

Subscriptions billed in Stripe live outside your store. Shopify never sees the renewals, customer accounts can't show them, and your team works in two places. Chargezen gives you one place to run them and a way onto Shopify when you're ready.

## Move Stripe subscribers onto Shopify

Subscribers keep the card they saved with you. Nobody re-enters it.

### Default card copied

Chargezen finds the Stripe customer with the same email as the Shopify customer and copies their default card into Shopify.

### A Shopify subscription

Once Shopify confirms the card, Chargezen creates the subscription with your plan, price and next billing date.

## Moving Stripe subscribers, step by step

### Credit cards only

Shopify accepts Stripe credit cards this way. Other Stripe payment types are not copied.

### One Stripe customer per email

Merge or remove duplicate Stripe customers before you move them.

### A default payment method

Each Stripe customer needs a default payment method for the card to come over.

### Shopify customers first

Each subscriber needs a Shopify customer with the same email and a default address.

### Billing moves to Shopify

After the move, renewals charge through Shopify. Cancel the Stripe subscription before its next charge.

## Common questions

### Do subscribers need to re-enter their card?

No. Chargezen copies the default card from the Stripe customer with the same email into Shopify, then creates the Shopify subscription.

### Can I keep some subscriptions billing in Stripe?

Yes. Pausing, resuming and cancelling them in Chargezen changes them in Stripe. Move them onto Shopify whenever you're ready.

### What if a customer has two Stripe accounts with the same email?

That row is listed as an error. Merge or remove the duplicate in Stripe, then import it again.

### Which cards can be copied?

Shopify accepts Stripe credit cards. The Stripe customer needs a default payment method.

### Will subscribers be charged twice?

No, as long as you cancel each Stripe subscription before its next charge. Chargezen keeps the same next billing date.
