A discount code gets lost in an inbox. Store credit keeps the value in your store and gives the customer a reason to order again, as long as they can see it and spend it easily. ## Give credit from the Shopify admin Chargezen uses Shopify's own store credit, so every balance lives on the customer in Shopify. ### Refund as store credit From the order page, pick the items, shipping and restocking to refund. A balance Shopify keeps on a customer's account. Signed-in customers can apply it as a payment method at checkout. ### Does store credit pay for subscription renewals? No. Shopify lets customers use store credit on the first order of a subscription at checkout, but not on automatic renewals (Shopify Help Center, checked 2026-10-18). Credit works best for one-time orders and add-ons. ### Is this the same as a gift card? No. Chargezen issues refunds and goodwill credit as Shopify store credit, so customers spend it without a code and the refund stays recorded on the order. ### Can I add a bonus when I refund as credit? Yes. Add 5%, 10%, 15% or a custom amount, and the bonus is added to the customer's balance with the refund. ### Does store credit cost extra?
