The problem

WooCommerce Subscriptions runs on WordPress, so this move takes your whole store to Shopify, not just your subscribers. The subscriptions are the easy part: an export lists who subscribes, to what, how often and when they renew. The hard part is the card each subscriber pays with, and that depends on your payment gateway.

What moves over from WooCommerce

Active subscriptions

Each subscriber's product, as a Shopify variant ID, with quantity and the price they pay today.

Next payment dates

WooCommerce's billing period and interval map to a Chargezen plan with the same frequency, and each next payment date carries over.

Saved cards

If you charge through Stripe, Braintree, Authorize.net or PayPal, our migration team moves each subscriber's saved payment method into Shopify, so nobody re-enters a card.

What to set up in Chargezen

Your Shopify store

Products, customers and checkout move to Shopify first. Each subscription is matched to a Shopify customer by email, with a default address.

Plans

One Chargezen plan per WooCommerce billing period and interval, with Contract import turned on.

Product IDs

WooCommerce product IDs do not carry over. Map each one to the Shopify variant ID you will ship.

Moving from WooCommerce, step by step

  1. 1

    Create matching plans

One Chargezen plan for each WooCommerce billing period and interval, with Contract import on.

  2. 2

    Export from WooCommerce

Subscription Exporter, active subscriptions, with payment method tokens.

  3. 3

    Move cards and import

Our team moves saved cards into Shopify. You upload one row per subscription, and every row is checked first.

  4. 4

    Stop renewals in WooCommerce

Put WooCommerce subscriptions on hold or cancel them before their next payment date.

Good to know about WooCommerce

Exporting from WooCommerce

WooCommerce's free Subscriptions Importer and Exporter (its GitHub readme, checked 2026-10-18) adds WooCommerce, then Subscription Exporter. Filter to active subscriptions and tick Payment Method Tokens. The file has each subscription's items, billing email, billing period and interval, and next payment date.

WooPayments

WooPayments is built with Stripe, but on a Stripe Express account connected to WooPayments, not on your own Stripe account (WooCommerce docs, checked 2026-10-18). Ask our migration team about those cards before you plan around them.

Other gateways

Cards at any other gateway, Square included, are not imported. Those subscribers save a card in Shopify before their subscription moves.

Only future dates

The import takes subscriptions with a next billing date that has not passed. Leave cancelled and expired subscriptions out of the file.

Leave WooCommerce behind. Keep every subscriber.

$199 a month for Shopify Advanced and Plus stores. No commission and no transaction fees, however big you grow.

Common questions

No, as long as billing is stopped in WooCommerce before each subscription's next charge date. Chargezen keeps the same next charge date.

No. You export your subscriptions from WooCommerce, turn them into Chargezen's import file and upload it. Chargezen checks every row and lists any it can't import, with the reason.

Not if you charge through Stripe, Braintree, Authorize.net or PayPal. Our migration team moves those saved payment methods into Shopify. Cards at other gateways need the subscriber to save a card in Shopify.

No. Chargezen Subscriptions runs on Shopify, so your store moves to Shopify along with your subscribers.

With WooCommerce's free Subscriptions Importer and Exporter (checked 2026-10-18): open WooCommerce, then Subscription Exporter, choose the statuses you want and tick Payment Method Tokens.
