The short answer: brands leave Awin for one of three things. Impact, if they want a partnership platform with more partner types. An affiliate app such as UpPromote or Refersion, if they want something cheaper and simpler. Or in-house creator and affiliate software such as Spark!, if their best partners are creators and customers and they want a price that doesn't grow with sales.
ShareASale merchants are in this group too. Awin's own page says "ShareASale is now part of Awin", that Awin has owned ShareASale since 2017, and that new customers are invited to launch directly with Awin (checked October 19, 2026). If you're reviewing your setup because of that change, see ShareASale alternatives.
What Awin does well
- Reach: Awin says its plans include search across a directory of more than 1 million partners. No in-house tool gives you that.
- Publisher types: Coupon, cashback, loyalty, content and comparison sites already work through networks like Awin.
- Many markets: Networks are strong where you sell across several countries and want local publishers.
How much does Awin cost?
From Awin's advertiser pricing page, checked October 19, 2026: Access is $49 a month plus a 3.5% tracking fee per transaction, with the first month free and a 3-month minimum term. Accelerate is from $99 a month plus 2.5%. Advanced is custom. Those fees sit on top of partner commissions. At $30,000 a month in affiliate sales, the Access fees come to $1,099 a month, or $13,188 a year.

Impact's Starter plan has a lower monthly fee than Awin Access and a lower percentage, and it is limited to certain ecommerce platforms, Shopify among them. Its bigger plans swap the percentage for a monthly price with included partner payouts, plus $250 an hour for setup. If you need a network's reach, Awin is the stronger pick. If you mainly work with creators and customers, a flat-price tool costs less as you grow.
How do you move off Awin?
- Export your partner list with contact details, commission rates and any custom terms.
- List every active discount code and who owns it, so codes keep working or get replaced cleanly.
- Note your cookie window and payout timing, and decide whether they change. Tell partners before they do.
- Pay out pending commissions under the old terms and keep the records.
- Set up your new program, then send partners a personal invite with their new link and code.
- Run both for a few weeks so nobody loses a sale, then switch off the old links.
- Expect publishers who depend on the network to stay there; focus on creators and customers.
Questions to ask before you switch
- Where do my sales come from today?: Pull a report of affiliate sales by partner type. If most come from coupon and cashback sites, a network is doing real work for you. If most come from a handful of creators, bloggers and customers, you can run them yourself.
- What do I pay in fees, not commissions?: Add up platform and tracking fees for the last 12 months. That is the number a flat-price tool replaces.
- What am I locked into?: Check your minimum term and notice period. Awin Access lists a 3-month minimum; Impact’s FAQ mentions a 12-month contract.
- Who will recruit partners?: Without a directory, someone on your team needs a few hours a week for outreach. Creator search and outreach sequences help, but they don’t replace the work entirely.
What changes for your partners
Partners care about three things: that their sales still count, that they get paid on time, and that the commission is the same or better. Tell them the date, give them their new link and code at least two weeks before, and keep the old ones live while both run. If you pay commissions on subscription renewals in your new program, say so; it is a reason for creators to move with you.
Spark!'s switching guide and the migration doc walk through each step, including an email you can send partners.
Spark! is $199 a month or $1,990 a year, with no fee on your partners' sales. See Spark! and pricing.
