Push notification

Push notification

Communication

A push notification is a message from an app or website that pops up on a device's screen, sent only to people who installed the app or allowed browser alerts.

What is Push notification?

App push goes to people with your app installed; web push goes to browsers that accepted alerts on your site. Both are free per message, but reach is limited to people who opted in on that device. Compared with SMS: push doesn't need a phone number, but it's easy to mute, and you can't reach someone who deleted the app. SmartyTap doesn't send push notifications. It sends email and texts.

Example

A shopping app sends "Your order is out for delivery" as a push notification to customers who have it installed.

Why Push notification Matters

Push is cheap for brands with a popular app; most stores reach more customers by email and text.
