Dedicated IP

Dedicated IP

Email Marketing

A dedicated IP is a sending IP address used by only one sender, so its reputation depends only on that sender's email.

What is Dedicated IP?

Most ESPs send from shared IPs used by many brands, with the provider managing their reputation. A dedicated IP gives one sender full control and full responsibility. Who needs one: high, steady volume senders (often hundreds of thousands of emails a month). At low volume, a dedicated IP can hurt, because there isn't enough mail to build a reputation. SmartyTap doesn't offer dedicated IPs. It sends from shared infrastructure, and your reputation is built on your own authenticated sending domain.

Example

A retailer sending a million emails a month moves to a dedicated IP and warms it up over six weeks.

Why Dedicated IP Matters

It sounds like an upgrade, but for most stores a well-kept sending domain on shared IPs is the better choice.

Dedicated IP FAQ

Will a dedicated IP improve my deliverability?

Only at high, consistent volume. Below that, shared IPs usually perform as well or better.

Does SmartyTap offer dedicated IPs?

No. SmartyTap sends from shared infrastructure and builds reputation on your authenticated sending domain.
