Single opt-in

Single opt-in

Email Marketing

Single opt-in is a signup that adds someone to your list right away, without a confirmation step.

What is Single opt-in?

Single opt-in is the default in most tools: submit the form, and you're subscribed. Pros: faster list growth and an immediate welcome message. Cons: typos, fake addresses and spam traps get in, which raises bounces and complaints over time. Make it work: validate addresses at entry, send the welcome email right away (a bounce exposes bad addresses fast), and run a sunset flow for people who never engage.

Example

A checkout box "Email me with news and offers" subscribes the customer the moment the order is placed.

Why Single opt-in Matters

It maximizes signups, but you trade some list quality for it.

Single opt-in FAQ

Is single opt-in legal?

For US email, yes. For texts, you still need prior express written consent under the TCPA.

Single or double opt-in: which is better?

Single grows faster; double gives a cleaner list. Many stores use single for email and double for texts.
