Skio Alternatives for Shopify: Pricing, Bundles, and Migration Compared

Disclosure: Chargezen makes one of the apps compared here. Official pricing and documentation were reviewed on October 23, 2026. Best-fit recommendations are our assessment, not hands-on test scores. Prices are USD and can change.

The right Skio alternative should solve your reason for switching while preserving the subscriber journeys that already work. For predictable software costs, investigate Chargezen and Appstle. For retention workflows, compare Loop and Stay AI. For a lower starting price, investigate Recurpay. Chargezen Subscriptions requires Shopify Advanced or Shopify Plus; stores on other Shopify plans should consider the other options here.

First, decide what you need to replace

Skio already offers a portal, build-a-box, cancellation flows, payment recovery and lifecycle automation on its Scale plan. A cheaper entry plan elsewhere is not automatically a replacement. List your live workflows, their usage and their contribution to revenue before comparing prices.

  • Your bill: Compare your actual contract with public rates. Separate the platform fee, percentage charge, per-order charge, messaging and implementation costs.
  • Your subscriber experience: Demonstrate mobile login, skipping, swapping, rescheduling, updating a card and adding an item to the next delivery. Count the steps customers must take.
  • Your bundles and retention: Test your real box rules, renewal discounts, stockouts and cancellation offers. Check who will rebuild the workflows and measure the results.

Recharge announced its acquisition of Skio in April 2026 and said both platforms would continue operating. Recharge is therefore a product alternative, but not a separate ownership alternative. The announcement alone does not establish that you must migrate or that your contract has changed. Use our acquisition and renewal checklist to assess your situation.

Seven Skio alternatives to shortlist

RecurpayLower entry price and configurable subscriptionsLaunch $9; Grow $19; Scale $99/monthConfirm volume eligibility; Scale lists up to $100K subscription revenue

Best fit and limitations by app

Chargezen: Consider it when a flat subscription software bill matters alongside customer self-service, bundles and cancellation prevention. Eligibility is restricted to Shopify Advanced and Plus. Price connected messaging and optional migration assistance separately. Use Chargezen versus Skio for the closer feature comparison.

Loop: Its published plans include a self-service portal, bundles and cancellation prevention; Pro adds automation, cancellation testing and API access. It is a useful candidate when those workflows drive the decision. The percentage fee remains, and Starter is not a substitute for Pro when your current setup depends on those capabilities.

Appstle: Its listing includes passwordless portal access, build-a-box and retention tools across its paid tiers. Business Premium can be attractive at $50,000 monthly subscription revenue. At $250,000, the published $100 tier no longer applies. Confirm enterprise pricing and API access rather than extrapolating the entry plan.

Stay AI: Pro includes A/B testing, cancellation and winback flows, plus migration and onboarding. Shortlist it if your team will run and evaluate experiments. A smaller transaction charge than Skio does not by itself make a business case for moving; weigh the implementation work and measured retention opportunity.

Recurpay: Grow lists build-a-box, cancellation flows, API access and webhooks; Scale adds portal and box code editors. Its low headline pricing deserves consideration, but confirm which tier covers your volume and customization. A feature label does not prove your existing Skio box or automation will transfer unchanged.

Smartrr: Excel combines build-a-box with loyalty and rewards. This can suit a program designed around the subscriber account, while the cheaper Launch plan is not the comparable bundle package. Request the applicable GMV definition and a quote, particularly if you need customized reporting or negotiated terms.

Recharge: Plus lists customizable bundles, migration support and storefront API/SDK capabilities. Evaluate it for concrete integration or workflow requirements. It does not meet a goal of leaving Recharge ownership. For a wider market comparison, see Recharge alternatives for Shopify.

What could replacing Skio cost?

Use 1,000 or 5,000 monthly subscription-only orders at a $50 billable value: $50,000 or $250,000 per month. Assume no taxes, shipping, mixed-cart additions, discounts or refunds. Annual software cost is 12 × (monthly base + billable revenue × rate + orders × per-order fee), except explicitly annual-priced plans.

Chargezen Subscriptions$1,990/year; Advanced/Plus only$1,990$1,990
Loop Pro$399/month + 0.75%$9,288$27,288
Appstle Business Premium$960/year; $100K/month revenue ceiling$960Above published tier: request a quote
Stay AI Pro$499/month + 1% + $0.19/transaction$14,268$47,388
Rate sources are linked above; Chargezen pricing is linked below. Software only: excludes Shopify, payment processing, messaging, tax on software bills, implementation and negotiated discounts. Features differ between rows.

Skio calculates fees on the whole order containing a subscription, including one-time products, shipping and tax, after discounts. Pure one-time orders are excluded. Confirm the other vendors’ treatment of these amounts before applying this example to a mixed cart. Check Chargezen pricing and your current invoice together; quoted savings should use your actual billable base.

Switching from Skio: protect the next renewal

  • Agree on scope: Confirm your notice period, payment-method compatibility, export access and migration responsibilities. Inventory prepaid balances, currencies, bundles, discounts and next charge dates.
  • Map and test the import: Chargezen uses CSV import for Skio. Create matching subscription plans and map the exported data to the CSV template. Verify payment methods and inspect a representative batch before the full move.
  • Rebuild customer journeys: Test portal access, notifications, box edits, cancellation offers and integrations. Historical analytics and automation settings need an explicit transfer or rebuild plan.
  • Assign the billing cutover: Importing into Chargezen does not stop Skio billing. Pause or cancel the imported subscriptions in Skio before their next charge date, as explained in the migration documentation. Check the first renewal orders and resolve exceptions.
