Agent sandbox

Agent sandbox (agent computer)

AI

An agent sandbox is an isolated computer an AI agent uses to run code, handle files and browse, closed off from your other systems so a mistake cannot spread.

What is Agent sandbox?

When an agent needs to write a script, open a large spreadsheet or use a website, it needs a computer. A sandbox gives it one that is walled off: it holds only the files and data the job needs and has no route into your other systems. Isolation can be per job or shared. Some products give each job a fresh computer that is shut down afterward, so nothing carries over. Others keep one persistent computer per user. Per-job isolation limits what any single job can touch; a persistent one keeps files between jobs. Ask which model a product uses. Concierge gives each job its own private computer, closed off from your other systems and shut down when the work is done.

Example

For example, an agent asked to reconcile a supplier invoice against last month's orders starts a fresh sandbox, loads only those two files, runs the comparison and hands back a spreadsheet of mismatches. Then the sandbox is shut down.

Why Agent sandbox Matters

A sandbox lets agents do real computer work while keeping the blast radius of any mistake small.

Agent sandbox FAQ

Why does an AI agent need its own computer?

Some work needs code, large files or websites with no API. A separate computer lets the agent do that work without access to your other systems.

Does anything carry over between jobs in an agent sandbox?

It depends on the product. With per-job sandboxes, each job starts fresh and nothing carries over; with a persistent computer, files can remain between jobs.
