Credential handover

Credential handover

AI

Credential handover is when an AI agent in a browser reaches a login and passes the live screen to a person to sign in, so it never sees or stores the password.

What is Credential handover?

Agents that use websites, such as supplier portals or carrier dashboards, eventually hit a login page, a two-factor code or a payment form. Credential handover pauses the agent there and hands control to a person, who completes the step on the live screen. Then the agent carries on. Why not just give the agent the password? A password in a chat message or in the agent's memory can leak, be reused or end up in logs. Handover keeps credentials with the people who own them. Concierge works this way: when a site needs a login, it hands you the screen to sign in yourself, and your password never goes into the chat.

Example

For example, an agent downloading a weekly report from a supplier portal reaches the sign-in page. The teammate who asked gets the live screen, signs in with their password and code, and the agent finishes the download.

Why Credential handover Matters

Credential handover lets agents work in password-protected sites without your passwords ever being shared with the AI.

Credential handover FAQ

Should I give an AI agent my passwords?

No. Use a product that hands you the screen to sign in yourself, or connects through OAuth, so your password never goes into a chat or the agent's memory.

How does credential handover work with two-factor codes?

The same way as a password: the person completes the code on the live screen and the agent continues once signed in.
