Last-click attribution

Last-click attribution

Affiliates

Last-click attribution is a rule that gives all the credit for a sale to the last tracked link the shopper clicked before buying.

What is Last-click attribution?

Last-click is the most common rule in affiliate and creator programs because it’s simple to explain and pay out: one order, one partner. If a shopper clicks two creators’ links, the later click wins. Its blind spot: the creator who introduced the product weeks earlier gets nothing if someone else’s link was clicked last. Some brands accept this; others add flat fees or gifting for top-of-funnel creators. How Spark! credits sales: an order is credited when the shopper tapped a creator’s tracked link and ordered in the same browser within the brand’s attribution window. If they tapped more than one creator’s link, the most recent tap wins.

Example

A shopper taps Creator A’s link on Monday and Creator B’s link on Thursday, then orders on Friday. Under last-click, Creator B earns the commission.

Why Last-click attribution Matters

It decides who gets paid. Partners should know the rule before they join.

Last-click attribution FAQ

Is last-click attribution fair to creators?

Last-click attribution is simple and predictable, but it favors the creator who closes the sale over the one who introduced the product. Fees or gifting can balance that.

Which creator gets credit in Spark! if a shopper taps two links?

In Spark!, the most recent tap gets the credit, within the brand’s attribution window, as long as the order is placed in the same browser.
