Recurring subscription products

Subscriptions

Products bought on a set schedule through recurring payments, such as supplements, coffee, pet food or skincare.

What is Recurring subscription products?

The best recurring products are things customers use up at a steady pace and do not want to run out of. Consumables like coffee, vitamins, pet food, razors, cleaning supplies and skincare are classic examples. Getting the schedule right is the main challenge. If deliveries come too often, product piles up and customers cancel. If they come too rarely, customers run out and buy elsewhere. Brands usually suggest a default frequency based on how long a product lasts and let subscribers change it anytime.

Example

For example, a 30-serving tub of protein powder lasts about a month for someone who uses one scoop a day. A brand might default that product to every 4 weeks, but offer 6 weeks for customers who use it every other day.

Why Recurring subscription products Matters

Choosing products that people truly use up, on a schedule that fits, is the foundation of a subscription program that lasts.
