Trial period

Trial period

Subscriptions

A limited time when customers can try a product or service, free or discounted, before a paid subscription begins.

What is Trial period?

Trials come in a few forms. A free trial costs nothing for a set time. A paid trial charges a small amount or sends a sample-size product. A discounted first order lowers the price of the first delivery before the regular price begins. How it works: the customer usually saves a payment method at signup, and the subscription renews automatically at the regular price when the trial ends unless they cancel. Clear disclosure of when the first full charge happens, and a reminder before it does, build trust and help you follow auto-renewal rules.

Example

For example, a software add-on offers a 14-day free trial. A customer who signs up on March 1 is charged the regular price on March 15 unless they cancel before then.

Why Trial period Matters

Trials lower the risk of trying something new, but they only pay off if the first weeks show customers real value.
