Moving from another provider
What to get from TextMagic, Attentive, Postscript, Klaviyo, Twilio, Google Voice or your mobile carrier before you move your number to Chargezen.

Moving a number is mostly paperwork, and the paperwork has to match what your current provider has on file. These guides cover what to get from each provider, what not to cancel, and where each detail goes in Chargezen. For the move itself, screen by screen, see Bring your number.

Postscript

Klaviyo
Your Klaviyo toll-free number, and why not to remove it

AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile
The transfer PIN each carrier issues, and locks to turn off
Somewhere else? Choose Another provider in Chargezen and type its name. The checklist below still applies; ask your provider for anything on it you can't find.
Which numbers can move
- US (+1) local and toll-free numbers that can send texts.
- Not short codes, the 5- and 6-digit numbers many texting tools send from.
- A local number needs an approved 10DLC registration in Chargezen before it moves, so it can text on arrival.
Type the number into Bring your number and Chargezen checks it straight away. If it can't move, you see why.
What to gather
- A recent invoice from your current provider, as a PDF from the last 30 days (5 MB or smaller). If it doesn't show the number, save a screenshot of your provider's dashboard that does as a PDF.
- The business name and service address exactly as your provider has them. A difference as small as "Street" and "St." can get the move sent back.
- The person on the account, who signs the letter of authorization.
- For a local number: the account number, the port-out PIN (some providers call it a transfer PIN) and the billing phone number.
- For a toll-free number: a way to read texts sent to the number at your current provider. Chargezen texts it a code to confirm it's yours, and that starts moving texting.
Keep your current provider's account open and paid until Chargezen shows the number as Moved. Closing it early can release the number, and it can't be recovered.
The port date
You choose a date at least 5 business days out when you submit the move. Chargezen books the earliest date the carriers allow on or after it, and the confirmed date, called the FOC date, shows on the number's row. A toll-free number usually starts texting through Chargezen about 3 business days after you confirm the code, before the port date. A local number moves calls and texts together on the port date.
