Moving from Klaviyo

Move your Klaviyo toll-free SMS number to Chargezen: what Klaviyo says to do, why not to remove the number, the port date and the Chargezen steps.

Last updated: 2026-10-18

Klaviyo's own guide says that to keep your sending number when you leave, you move it to your new SMS provider, and the new provider starts the request. With Chargezen, that's the Bring your number flow.

Can this number move?

In the US, Klaviyo sends from a toll-free number, created automatically when you set up SMS, or from a short code (Understanding SMS sending numbers, checked October 18, 2026). Your Klaviyo toll-free number can be checked for a move. A short code can't move to Chargezen, and Klaviyo says branded sender IDs can't be moved at all.

Chargezen moves US (+1) local and toll-free numbers that can send texts. Short codes (5 or 6 digits) can't move. A local number needs an approved 10DLC registration in Chargezen first, so it can text the moment it arrives. Type the number into Bring your number and Chargezen tells you whether it can move, and why not if it can't, before you fill in anything else.

What to get from Klaviyo

Klaviyo's How to migrate off of Klaviyo (checked October 18, 2026) says to ask your new provider to start the move, and to contact Klaviyo support for any details about your SMS number or account the new provider needs. Gather:

  • A recent Klaviyo invoice as a PDF from the last 30 days. If it doesn't show the number, save a screenshot of Settings > SMS in Klaviyo, which lists it, as a PDF.
  • The business name and address on your Klaviyo account, exactly as Klaviyo has them. Ask Klaviyo support if you're not sure.
  • A way to read texts sent to the number in Klaviyo, because Chargezen texts it a code to confirm it's yours.

The same guide covers what to export before you leave, such as your SMS subscribers with their consent timestamps, and your custom keywords to audit.

Don't cancel Klaviyo yet

Don't remove the number in Klaviyo. Klaviyo says removing a number releases it, and that it's permanent and irreversible. Keep your Klaviyo SMS plan running until Chargezen shows the number as Moved.

What happens on the port date

When you submit the move, you pick a port date at least 5 business days out. Chargezen books the earliest date the carriers allow on or after it, and the confirmed date (the FOC date) shows on the number's row under SMS numbers. Carriers set the exact time.

  • Toll-free numbers: texting usually moves about 3 business days after you confirm the code, before the port date. The row shows Texting live. On the port date, calls move too.
  • Local numbers: calls and texts move together on the port date, and the number joins your approved 10DLC campaign.
  • When the move is finished, the row shows Moved. If you chose Concierge answers calls, the number is ready in Chargezen Voice for you to activate.
  • If the move is sent back, the row shows Needs attention with the reason. Click Fix, correct the step it opens and click Resubmit move.

Fill in the Chargezen steps

In Chargezen, go to Concierge > Deploy > Channels, click Chargezen SMS and, under SMS numbers, click Bring your number. Here is what to enter from Klaviyo at each step. The full walkthrough is in Bring your number.

1

Number

Enter the number and, under Where is it today?, choose Klaviyo. The check runs as soon as you type 10 digits.

2

Account details

Enter Business name on the account, Authorized person and the service address exactly as Klaviyo has them.

3

Sign

Read the letter of authorization, which Chargezen fills in with your details and Klaviyo as the current provider. Type your full name, tick the box and click Sign letter. If you change a detail the letter shows, sign again.

4

Invoice

Click Upload invoice and choose your Klaviyo invoice PDF (5 MB or smaller).

5

Confirm it's yours (toll-free only)

Click Text me the code. The code arrives as an incoming text on the number in Klaviyo. Enter it under Code and click Confirm code.

6

Review

Pick the port date, then choose Concierge answers calls or Don't answer calls under When someone calls this number. Click Submit move.
