Move your local or toll-free number from TextMagic, Attentive, Postscript, Klaviyo, Twilio or another provider. You sign the letter of authorization, upload an invoice and track the move in Chargezen, and a toll-free number starts texting through Chargezen before the move is finished.
The problem
Your number is on your packaging, your website and years of order emails. Getting a new one means customers call and text a number nobody answers. Moving it is mostly paperwork, and one detail that doesn't match your old account sends the whole request back. Chargezen checks the number first, fills in the paperwork with you and shows you exactly what to fix if the carrier says no.
Type the number and Chargezen checks whether it can move, whether it can text, and whether it's local or toll-free. If it can't move, you see why.
Chargezen fills the carrier's letter of authorization with your details. Read it, type your name to sign and upload your latest invoice as a PDF.
Confirm a code texted to your toll-free number and its texting moves to Chargezen while calls keep ringing at your old provider until the port date.
Pick a date and Chargezen books the earliest date the carriers allow on or after it. The confirmed date shows on the number's row.
Enter it and choose where it is today. The check runs as soon as you type 10 digits.
Business name, authorized person and service address, exactly as on your invoice. Local numbers also need the account number, port-out PIN and billing phone number.
Read the prefilled letter of authorization, type your full name and confirm you're allowed to move the number.
Your latest invoice from the current provider, as a PDF from the last 30 days.
Toll-free only: Chargezen texts a code to the number, it shows up at your current provider, and you enter it here.
Choose the port date, and whether Concierge answers calls or nobody does. Then submit the move.
Customers keep calling and texting the number they already have.
If the carrier sends the move back, Chargezen opens the step that fixes it, so you can correct it and resubmit.
Choose "Concierge answers calls" and the number is set up for your digital employee when it arrives.
Concierge answers your customers, runs back-office work on its own computer and gets better every week. See it on your own store.
US numbers (+1), local or toll-free, that can send texts. Short codes, the 5- and 6-digit numbers many texting tools send from, can't move. A local number also needs an approved 10DLC registration in Chargezen first, so it can text the moment it arrives.
Your latest invoice as a PDF, and the business name and service address exactly as they appear on it. For a local number you also need the account number, the port-out PIN and the billing phone number. For a toll-free number you need to be able to read texts sent to it at your current provider, because Chargezen texts it a code.
The earliest port date you can choose is 5 business days out, and the carriers confirm the exact time. For a toll-free number, texting usually moves in about 3 business days, before the port date.
The number shows Needs attention with the carrier's reason. Click Fix and Chargezen opens the step that needs a change, such as your details, the signature or the invoice. Then resubmit.
Only after Chargezen shows the number as Moved. Closing your old account earlier can release the number, and it can't be recovered.
Yes, until texting is live in Chargezen or the port date is confirmed. The number then stays with your current provider.
