Phygital subscription

Subscriptions

A subscription that combines physical products with digital experiences, such as a product plus app content or online classes.

What is Phygital subscription?

"Phygital" blends the words physical and digital. The physical part is usually a product that ships on a schedule. The digital part is something customers use between deliveries, like an app, tutorials, a community or a member area. Why brands do it: a physical product alone can be copied or bought elsewhere. Pairing it with digital content gives subscribers more reasons to stay, and gives the brand more touchpoints between orders. Access to the digital side is usually tied to the subscription, so it ends when the subscription does.

Example

For example, a cooking brand might ship a monthly spice kit and include access to video recipes that use those exact spices. A subscriber who cancels the kit also loses the recipe library, which makes the full package harder to walk away from.

Why Phygital subscription Matters

Adding digital value to a physical subscription can make it stickier without raising your product costs much.
