The Philippines and the US are linked by family, by remote work and by the customer support industry, so a lot of calls go between them. Dialing is simple: 00, then 1, then the ten-digit US number. Timing is the hard part, because Manila is 12 to 16 hours ahead of the US mainland and only the US changes its clocks. This guide covers the digits from a landline and a mobile, a worked example, toll-free numbers, and the calling windows that work.
The short answer
- From a Philippine landline: Dial 00 1, then the US area code and number. Example: 00 1 312 555 0129.
- From a mobile: Dial +1 312 555 0129. Press and hold 0 for the plus sign. Saving US contacts with +1 avoids mistakes.
- Without the 00 or +: The call is treated as a domestic number and fails.
The ITU dialling procedures list lists the Philippines' international prefix as 00 and the US as country code 1 with ten-digit national numbers.
How a US number is built
US numbers have ten digits: a three-digit area code and a seven-digit local number (NANPA). Unlike Philippine numbers, there's no leading 0 to drop. Example: (312) 555-0129 is a Chicago number; internationally it's +1 312 555 0129. The examples here use 555-01XX, a range used for fictional numbers.
| Philippines | United States | |
|---|---|---|
| Country code | 63 | 1 |
| International prefix (to call out) | 00 | 011 |
| Domestic trunk prefix | 0 | none (1 for long distance) |
| Mobile example in international format | +63 917 XXX XXXX | +1 312 555 0129 |
Worked example
A support agent working from Cebu needs to call back a customer in Chicago at (312) 555-0129.
- Dial 00 to leave the Philippine network.
- Dial 1 for the United States.
- Dial 312 555 0129.
- Check the time first: 9 p.m. in Cebu in July is 8 a.m. the same day in Chicago.
From a mobile the whole thing is +1 312 555 0129. When the customer calls the agent's Philippine mobile, they dial 011 63 and the number without its leading 0.
What it costs
Philippine mobile networks and landline providers charge international calls per minute unless you're on a promo or plan that includes them, and rates differ by network. Check your network's international rates or promos before a long call. App calls over Wi-Fi or data avoid call charges when both people use the same app.
If you work remotely for a US company, you'll usually call US customers through the company's calling software rather than your own phone, so the customer sees the company's US number and the company pays for the call. Ask your employer which app to use; don't call customers from a personal SIM.
US toll-free numbers from the Philippines
US toll-free numbers (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877 and 888, per the FCC) are free for callers in the US. From the Philippines they often don't connect, because businesses block international calls to them (Aircall's help center), and when they do, the call may be billed as international. Use the company's regular number or "calling from outside the US" number, or reach them by chat or email.
Time difference between the Philippines and the US
The Philippines is on UTC+8 all year with no daylight saving time. The US changes its clocks on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November (NIST), so the gap is one hour bigger in the US winter.
| US zone | Mar 8 to Oct 31, 2026 (US daylight time) | Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 13, 2027 (US standard time) |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern (New York) | Manila is 12 hours ahead | Manila is 13 hours ahead |
| Central (Chicago) | 13 hours ahead | 14 hours ahead |
| Mountain (Denver) | 14 hours ahead | 15 hours ahead |
| Pacific (Los Angeles) | 15 hours ahead | 16 hours ahead |
| Arizona (Phoenix, no daylight time) | 15 hours ahead | 15 hours ahead |
- To reach a US office in its morning: Call in the Philippine evening: 9 p.m. Manila is 9 a.m. New York in the US summer, 8 a.m. in winter.
- To reach a US office in its afternoon: Call late at night or very early: 2 a.m. Manila is 2 p.m. New York in summer, 1 p.m. in winter.
- Watch the date: Your Saturday morning is the US Friday evening. A US Monday morning starts on your Monday night.
If the call won't go through
- Make sure you dialed 00 or + first.
- Count ten digits after the 1.
- For a toll-free number, use the company's regular number.
- Check that your load or plan covers international calls.

Area codes tell you the time zone
Before calling a US number, check the area code. It usually tells you the time zone, which tells you whether someone is awake. A few common ones:
| Area code | City | US time zone | Hours behind Manila (US summer / winter) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 212, 646 | New York | Eastern | 12 / 13 |
| 305 | Miami | Eastern | 12 / 13 |
| 312, 773 | Chicago | Central | 13 / 14 |
| 713 | Houston | Central | 13 / 14 |
| 303 | Denver | Mountain | 14 / 15 |
| 702 | Las Vegas | Pacific | 15 / 16 |
| 213, 310 | Los Angeles | Pacific | 15 / 16 |
| 206 | Seattle | Pacific | 15 / 16 |
| 808 | Hawaii | Hawaii (no daylight time) | 18 / 18 |
Texting a US number from the Philippines
Type the number as +1 and ten digits. International texts are usually charged per message unless your plan or promo includes them. If you text a US business, a reply may come from a different number, or the business may not accept texts from outside the US; use its chat or email as a backup.
If your US business has a team in the Philippines
Many US stores have support teammates in the Philippines. Their working hours often cover the US night, which is useful, as long as calls reach them through a business system on the store's US number, not a personal phone. Keep every call and text in one shared history so the US daytime team sees what happened overnight.
How Chargezen helps
Chargezen doesn't sell international calling or Philippine numbers. It answers the calls and messages that reach your US business number, and gives teammates anywhere a way to step in:
- Concierge answers your US number: Concierge is Chargezen's team of digital employees. On the phone it works as an AI receptionist that answers calls on your US business number at any hour, knows the caller from their number and can look up their orders. See the phone channel.
- Teammates join from anywhere: When a caller needs a person, Concierge alerts your team in the Finn app and the browser, and emails or texts the teammates you pick. A teammate can listen in and join the live call from Finn or the browser; transfers happen in the Finn app. See phone calls.
- One thread per customer: Calls, texts, website chat and email from the same customer land in one conversation, so whoever picks it up next sees what already happened. See every channel.
- US numbers only: Chargezen offers US (+1) numbers: a new toll-free number, or the US number you already have. It doesn't sell numbers in other countries, and it doesn't forward calls.
A teammate in Manila can join a live call from the browser. See team inbox and human handoff. Concierge Starter is $20 a month with 20,000 credits. Pro is $199 a month with 199,000 credits, or $1,990 a year. Phone and text charges are billed as used. See pricing.
