Post-purchase flow

Post-purchase flow (after-purchase flow)

Email Marketing

A post-purchase flow is a set of automated messages after an order that thank the customer, help them use the product and lead to the next purchase.

What is Post-purchase flow?

The weeks after a first order decide whether a customer buys again. A post-purchase flow fills that gap with useful messages, not just promos. Typical steps: thank you, how to use or care for the product, a review request, cross-sells that fit what they bought, and a reorder reminder timed to when the product runs out. In SmartyTap, the after-purchase flow is live, alongside order flows for thank-you, shipping, tag and refund emails.

Example

Day 1: thank you. Day 7: "how to get the best from your new pan." Day 21: matching lids. Day 60: "time for a new set of liners?"

Why Post-purchase flow Matters

A second order is the hardest to win, and this flow is built to win it.

Post-purchase flow FAQ

Is a post-purchase email transactional?

The order confirmation is. Cross-sells and review requests are marketing and need consent.

When should the reorder reminder go out?

A few days before the product usually runs out. For a 30-day supply, around day 25.
