Email flow

Email automation flow

Email Marketing

An email flow is an automated series of emails that starts for each customer when something happens, like a signup, an abandoned checkout or an order.

What is Email flow?

A flow has a trigger (what starts it), filters (who it's for), steps (emails, texts, waits and splits) and exits (what stops it, like placing an order). Flows earn while you sleep. They reach each customer at the moment that matters to them, not when you happen to send a campaign. Core flows for stores: welcome, abandoned checkout, browse abandonment, after-purchase, back-in-stock, birthday and win-back. SmartyTap runs all seven, plus order flows for shipping, tags and refunds.

Example

An abandoned checkout flow waits one hour, emails a reminder with the cart, waits a day, then sends a second email to anyone who still hasn't ordered.

Why Email flow Matters

Flows send the right message to every customer at the right moment without anyone on your team pressing send.

Email flow FAQ

Which email flow should I set up first?

A welcome flow, then abandoned checkout. Those two reach people at their highest interest.

Is a flow the same as an automation or a workflow?

Yes. Tools use different names for the same idea: messages triggered by what a customer does.
