Pest Control Business Software: The Tools Pest Companies Use, Sorted by Job

Pest control is a route business with a compliance file attached. Most of the money comes from recurring programs: quarterly general pest, monthly mosquito in season, termite and rodent stations checked on a schedule. Each visit has to land on a tight route, and each treatment has to be recorded. Then, on a Saturday in July, someone calls about a wasp nest over the back door and wants to know if you can come today.

This guide sorts the software that handles each of those jobs, with what each tool does and its published price, checked on each vendor's own site. Some big pest platforms don't publish prices; where that's true, we say so. It doesn't rank them.

The short answer

  • Run routes and programs: A pest platform (GorillaDesk, PestPac, FieldRoutes) or a general field-service app (Housecall Pro, Jobber) for recurring service, routing, scheduling and billing.
  • Record treatments: Material and chemical use logged at the stop, in the pest platform if it supports it.
  • Keep the books: QuickBooks Online or Xero, synced from the platform.
  • Answer the phone: A business phone and texting system that keeps up with the summer rush and the photo-of-a-bug texts.

What pest control software has to handle

  • Recurring service programs: Quarterly or monthly visits that renew on their own, billed per visit or as a monthly plan, with an easy way to add a one-time treatment.
  • Route density: Profit depends on stops per day. You want routing that groups nearby accounts and lets a dispatcher slot in a callback.
  • Material and chemical records: What was applied, where, how much and by whom, kept the way your state requires.
  • Devices and stations: Bait stations, traps and monitors checked every visit, ideally scanned with a barcode so the history follows the device.
  • Seasonal spikes: Termite swarms in spring, stinging insects and mosquitoes in summer, rodents moving indoors in fall. Call volume follows the weather.
  • Licensing: Federal law requires anyone who applies or supervises the use of restricted-use pesticides to be certified, states run those programs under EPA-approved plans, and many states also require certification for commercial use of other pesticides (EPA, checked October 18, 2026). Your state agency sets the recordkeeping rules. This isn't legal advice.

Field-service management apps

Smaller or newer pest companies often start on a general app and move to a pest platform when treatment records and route density start to matter more.

Ask every vendor to show you the material-use report a state inspector would see, built from a real stop entered on a technician's phone. That one demo tells you more than the feature list.

Recurring revenue makes the books simpler and prepaid plans trickier: an annual termite agreement paid upfront is earned over the year. Ask your accountant how to record prepaid plans, and check that your platform's sync carries them correctly.

Phones and texting

Pest calls are urgent and emotional. Someone found droppings in the pantry, a nest by the swing set, or bed bugs after a trip. They want an answer now, and many want to text a photo of the bug and ask what it is. If nobody answers, they call the next company on the list.

  • Phone features inside your field-service app: Jobber's AI Receptionist answers calls and texts and can book the visit during the call using your online booking settings; Jobber's pricing page lists it on Plus and as a $29/mo add-on (Jobber). Housecall Pro's CSR AI answers calls and books jobs, and it sells a separate Voice add-on; neither price is on its pricing page (Housecall Pro). If you want AI that books straight into your schedule, start here.
  • A standalone business phone app: For example Quo (formerly OpenPhone): $15 to $47 per user per month depending on plan and billing, with phone menus on its Business and Scale plans. Its Sona AI agent includes 10 calls on every plan, then paid tiers from $25 to $199 a month (Quo pricing, checked October 18, 2026). See our Concierge vs Quo comparison.
  • An AI and texting layer next to your app: One business number for calls and texts, an AI that answers every call and text and takes the details, and a shared inbox for the team. This is where Chargezen fits; more below.

Write a triage script whoever answers follows. If someone was stung and is having trouble breathing, or a person may have swallowed or been exposed to a pesticide and has collapsed, the answer is 911. For other possible pesticide exposure, give the Poison Help line, 1-800-222-1222 (Poison Control, checked October 18, 2026). Pest identification from a photo, treatment advice and re-entry times after a treatment go to a licensed technician, not to whoever, or whatever, answers the phone.

Sample stacks by company size

These are common patterns, not recommendations.

CompanyTypical stack
Owner-operatorA pest platform or field-service app on its entry plan with material tracking, QuickBooks Online or Xero, and a business number that answers while you are in a crawlspace
Two to ten routesA pest platform with routing, device tracking and autopay, accounting sync, and a shared inbox for calls and texts with an after-hours plan
Multi-branchA larger quote-based platform such as PestPac or FieldRoutes, accounting, and a phone setup that records calls and keeps one history per customer

A checklist for choosing

  • Does it renew quarterly and monthly programs and bill them automatically?
  • Can a dispatcher override the optimized route?
  • Can technicians log materials at the stop, and does the report match your state's rules?
  • Does it track stations and devices by barcode, if you need that?
  • Can it handle apartments and commercial sites with many units?
  • How does it sync with your accounting app, including prepaid plans?
  • Who answers a homeowner's call about a wasp nest on a Saturday in July?
  • For quote-based platforms: what are setup, training and migration in year one?

How Chargezen helps

Chargezen isn't a field-service app, and it doesn't try to be one. It doesn't book jobs, schedule crews, write estimates or send invoices, and it doesn't connect directly to any of the field-service or accounting apps in this guide today. Keep the app that runs your jobs. Chargezen is the phone, text and AI layer next to it: Concierge, Chargezen's team of digital employees, makes sure every call and text gets an answer and lands in front of your team.

  • An AI receptionist on your business number: Concierge answers calls day and night with the greeting you write, answers common questions from what you teach it, and takes the job details for your team. When a caller needs a person, it alerts your team in the Finn app and emails or texts the teammates you pick. See AI receptionist and the phone channel.
  • Every text answered: The agent you choose replies to each text on your number, at any hour, and steps back when a teammate takes over. See the SMS autoresponder.
  • A triage script it follows every time: Teach Concierge the pests you treat, your service area, what a first visit involves, and your safety lines. Tell it to send identification and treatment questions to your licensed staff. See approved answers.
  • Photos by text: Customers can text a photo of the bug, the droppings or the damage to your number. It shows up in the conversation, where your technician can see it before the visit.
  • A teammate can join any call: Listen in from the browser or the Finn app, tap Join the call, and Concierge tells the caller you are there.
  • Calls and texts in one team inbox: Every call and text lands in the customer's conversation, so whoever picks it up sees the whole history, not a crew member's personal phone. See the team inbox.
  • Recordings by your rules: Callers hear your recording notice first, and you choose how long recordings are kept. See call recording.
  • The number customers already have: Get a new US local or toll-free number, or bring the number on your trucks and yard signs. See business phone number.

What Chargezen doesn't do on the phone: no phone menu, no ringing a group of phones, and no forwarding calls to personal cell numbers. Concierge answers, and teammates join or take over from it. Your field-service app stays the place where jobs get booked, priced and billed, so a teammate enters the job there from the conversation. If your field-service plan already includes an AI receptionist, use one answering layer, not two.

Concierge Starter is $20 a month with 20,000 credits. Pro is $199 a month with 199,000 credits, or $1,990 a year. Phone and text charges are billed as used. See pricing.

Related terms: AI receptionist, conversational SMS and number porting. Related guides: what missed calls cost and how to stop them, lawn care business software and cleaning business software. Software for other trades: plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electrical and painting. See how Concierge answers the phone for pest control companies, or Concierge for home services.

Frequently asked questions

What software do pest control companies use?

Most run a pest platform such as GorillaDesk, PestPac or FieldRoutes, or a general field-service app, plus QuickBooks Online or Xero and a business phone system. The pest platforms add routing for recurring programs and material-use records.

Which pest control software is cheapest?

Of the published prices we checked on October 18, 2026, GorillaDesk Basic and Service Autopilot Startup both list $49 a month; Jobber Core lists $29 a month billed annually but has no pest-specific features on its pricing page. PestPac and FieldRoutes are quote-based. Count extra routes, texting and AI answering when you compare.

What software tracks pesticide use?

GorillaDesk lists material tracking on every plan, and PestPac lists chemical tracking among its features. Confirm that the reports match what your state agency asks for.

Does Chargezen connect to my pest control software?

Not today. Chargezen answers calls and texts, takes the details and passes them to your team, who enter the service in your platform.
