Roofing Business Software: The Tools Roofers Use, Sorted by Job

Roofing runs differently from the service trades. A plumber's day is many small jobs; a roofer's pipeline is fewer, bigger jobs with a long road from first call to final payment: inspection, measurements, estimate, often an insurance claim, material order, crew scheduling, the tear-off and install, then supplements and the final invoice. And after a hailstorm, a year's worth of leads can arrive in a week.

That's why roofing has its own software category. Generic field-service apps can work for repair-heavy shops, but replacement and storm-restoration companies usually run a roofing CRM, a measurement service and a photo app. This guide sorts the common tools by job, with what each one does and its published price, checked on each vendor's own site. We don't rank them.

The short answer

  • Run the pipeline: A roofing CRM and project tool (AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Roofr), or a field-service app (ServiceTitan lists roofing among its trades) for repair-heavy shops.
  • Measure the roof: Aerial or phone-scan measurement reports (EagleView, Hover, Roofr) so you can bid without climbing every roof first.
  • Document everything: A photo app such as CompanyCam for inspection, damage and completion photos.
  • Work insurance claims: Know Xactimate, the claims estimating software insurers commonly use, even if you don't run it yourself.
  • Keep the books and answer the phone: QuickBooks Online or Xero, and a phone setup that survives storm season.

What roofing software has to handle

  • A long sales cycle: Inspection, estimate, adjuster meeting, approval, scheduling. Leads stall at every step unless someone follows up.
  • Storm surges: After hail or high wind, calls, web forms and door-knock leads pile up at once. Speed matters, and so does tracking which leads came from which storm.
  • Insurance work: Damage photos, measurement reports, scope sheets, supplements and the homeowner's deductible. Missing paperwork delays payment.
  • Materials and crews: Ordering the right squares, colors and accessories, and scheduling crews around weather.
  • Trust: Homeowners get wary after a storm brings out-of-town contractors. A local number, a clear company name and prompt, professional answers help you stand apart.
  • Licensing: Roofing license and registration rules vary a lot by state and city. Keep your license and insurance certificates ready to send.

Roofing CRMs and field-service apps

AccuLynxAn all-in-one platform for roofing contractors covering sales, production, finance and crew managementQuote-based; confirm with the vendor; the pricing page asks you to request a quote (AccuLynx)
JobNimbusCRM and project management for home exterior contractors (roofing, restoration, siding, gutters, solar), from leads through payment, including estimates, invoicing and textingQuote-based; confirm with the vendor. Plans are Essentials (up to 3 users), Pro (up to 10), Premium (up to 19) and Enterprise (JobNimbus pricing)
RoofrRoofing software for sales, estimates, proposals, measurements, payments, materials and job schedulingFree Starter plan; paid plans $109 to $349/mo billed monthly; measurement reports $19 each on Starter and $13 on paid plans (Roofr pricing)
ServiceTitanA field-service platform that lists residential and commercial roofing among its tradesQuote-based; confirm with the vendor; priced per technician (ServiceTitan pricing)
Prices are the vendors' published list prices, checked October 18, 2026. They change often, and promotions come and go, so confirm on each vendor's pricing page before you buy. We don't rank these tools, and we have no affiliate deal with any of them.

Repair-only roofers sometimes do fine with a general field-service app such as Jobber or Housecall Pro, covered in our plumbing and HVAC roundups. Replacement and insurance-restoration companies usually want a tool built around the roofing pipeline.

Measurements, photos and claims

Measurement reports are a per-job cost, so they add up in storm season. Compare the per-report price against how many of your bids turn into jobs, and decide when you still want a tape and a ladder.

Roofing jobs often pay in pieces: a deposit, the first insurance check, the deductible, the supplement and the depreciation release. Make sure your CRM and accounting app agree on what is still owed per job.

Phones and texting

Roofing calls come in two kinds. The emergency: a tree on the roof, a leak into a bedroom, shingles in the yard after a storm. And the long conversation: a homeowner comparing three bids, an adjuster scheduling an inspection, a customer asking where their crew is. Both are easy to drop when the owner is up on a roof or the office is buried in post-storm leads.

  • Texting inside your CRM: JobNimbus lists texting among its features, per its site. Check whether your CRM keeps calls and texts on the job record and whether the whole team can see them.
  • A standalone business phone app: Quo charges $15 to $47 per user per month, and its Sona AI agent includes 10 calls free with paid tiers from $25 to $199 a month (Quo pricing, checked October 18, 2026).
  • An AI and texting layer next to your CRM: An AI that answers every storm call, gets the address, the damage and whether water is coming in, and puts it in a shared inbox. This is where Chargezen fits.

For leak calls, write down what the caller should do now: move belongings, put a bucket under the drip, stay out of rooms where the ceiling sags, and never climb onto a wet or damaged roof. For storm calls, decide what you will promise: an inspection window, not a price.

Sample stacks by company size

CompanyTypical stack
Repair-focused owner-operatorA general field-service app or Roofr's free plan, pay-per-report measurements, a photo app, accounting, and a number that answers when you are on a roof
Residential replacementA roofing CRM, a measurement subscription, CompanyCam, accounting sync, and a shared inbox for calls and texts so leads don't stall
Storm restorationA roofing CRM with insurance workflow, EagleView or Hover reports, Xactimate familiarity, photo documentation, and phones that can absorb a week of storm calls

A checklist for choosing

  • Does the CRM follow a job from lead to final payment, including supplements and depreciation?
  • Can you order measurement reports from inside it, and what does each report cost?
  • Can photos go straight to the job and to the adjuster?
  • How will you answer the phone the week after a hailstorm?
  • Can the whole team see every call and text with a homeowner, not just the salesperson's cell?
  • Can you keep your local number if you switch tools?
  • What does it cost with your storm-season headcount?

How Chargezen helps

Chargezen isn't a field-service app, and it doesn't try to be one. It doesn't book jobs, schedule or dispatch crews, write estimates or send invoices, and it doesn't connect directly to Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, QuickBooks or Xero today. Keep the app that runs your jobs. Chargezen is the phone, text and AI layer next to it: the part that makes sure every roofing customer who calls or texts gets an answer.

  • An AI receptionist on your business number: Concierge answers calls day and night with the greeting you write, answers common questions from what you teach it, and takes the job details for your team. When a caller needs a person, it alerts your team in the Finn app and emails or texts the teammates you pick. See AI receptionist and the phone channel.
  • Storm-week capacity: Concierge answers every storm call, asks your questions (address, damage, active leak, insurance claim filed or not) and passes each lead to the team in one list.
  • Photos by text: Homeowners can text photos of the damage or the leak to your number, and they show up in the conversation, ready for the estimator.
  • Texts from the business number: Salespeople and project managers text from the company number in the Finn app, not their own cells, so the conversation stays with the company. See why to stop texting customers from a personal phone.
  • A teammate can join any call: Listen in from the browser or the Finn app, tap Join the call, and Concierge tells the caller you are there. From the Finn app you can transfer the call to another teammate.
  • Calls and texts in one team inbox: Every call, voicemail and text lands in the customer's conversation, so whoever picks it up sees the whole history. See the team inbox.
  • Missed calls and voicemails on your phone: The Finn app shows missed calls and voicemails with transcripts. From a missed-call notification, a teammate can call back or send a text in one tap.
  • Recordings by your rules: Callers hear your recording notice first, and you choose how long recordings are kept. See call recording.
  • The number customers already have: Get a new US local or toll-free number, or bring the number on your trucks and yard signs. See business phone number.

What Chargezen doesn't do on the phone: no phone menu, no ringing a group of phones, and no forwarding calls to personal cell numbers. Concierge answers, and teammates join or take over from it. Your field-service app stays the place where jobs get booked, priced and billed, so a teammate copies the job details from the conversation into it.

Concierge Starter is $20 a month with 20,000 credits. Pro is $199 a month with 199,000 credits, or $1,990 a year. Phone and text charges are billed as used. See pricing.

Related terms: AI answering service, MMS and human handoff. Related guides: electrical business software, how to share one business number with your team and what to do about missed customer calls. Software for other trades: plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, pest control, lawn care and painting. See how Concierge answers the phone for roofers, or Concierge for home services.

Frequently asked questions

What software do roofing companies use?

Most use a roofing CRM or field-service app to run the pipeline, a measurement service for bids, a photo app for documentation, accounting software and a phone system. Insurance-restoration companies also work with Xactimate estimates from carriers.

Is there free roofing software?

Roofr publishes a free Starter plan, with measurement reports at $19 each, and Hover's Starter plan charges per project with the first three free (both checked October 18, 2026). Check what each free plan leaves out before you build your process on it.

Do I need EagleView or Hover?

Not always. Aerial and scan measurements save climbs and speed up bids, which matters most when you bid a lot of roofs or work storms. A repair-focused roofer who measures on site may not need a subscription; pay-per-report options let you try one first.

Does Chargezen connect to AccuLynx or JobNimbus?

Not today. Chargezen answers calls and texts and gives your team the details; your team enters the lead in your roofing CRM.
