Introduction to SmartyTap
Find your way around SmartyTap email and text marketing: the menu, the setup checklist and the order that gets your first campaign to the inbox.

SmartyTap is Chargezen's email and text marketing. You send campaigns and automated flows to the customers who agreed to hear from you, with your subscription, loyalty and order data in the same place, so the right message reaches the right person. You'll find it in the Chargezen admin at admin.chargezen.com, under SmartyTap.
Find your way around
The SmartyTap menu has these sections:
- Overview: your contacts, open conversations and campaigns at a glance, and a chat where you can ask for help planning your next campaign.
- Inbox: Compose and All inbox, for replies from customers.
- Campaigns: All campaigns, New campaign, All flows, Flow templates, Recent flow runs, Templates, Scheduled and History.
- Calls: including Phone Numbers, where you see each number's texting approval.
- Audience: Contacts, Lists, Segments, Tags, Imports, Unsubscribed and Blocked.
- Tools: Collect Subscribers (sign-up forms), Integrations, Surveys, Carrier Lookups and Content Hub.
- Analytics: Dashboard, Campaign Performance, Email Analytics, Revenue Attribution and more.
- Settings: Settings, SMS Setup, Voice Setup, Email Setup and Messaging Profiles.
Set up in this order
Connect your store
If you sell on Shopify, Chargezen brings in your customers and their email and SMS marketing consent. See Connect Shopify. Not on Shopify? SmartyTap works with contacts on their own, too.
Bring in your contacts
Import a CSV of subscribers and set up sign-up forms. See Contacts and consent.
Authenticate your email domain
Add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records SmartyTap gives you in Settings > Email Setup. See Email domain authentication.
Get a texting number approved
Pick a toll-free number in Settings > SMS Setup and get it verified, or register a local number, or bring the number you text from today. See 10DLC and toll-free registration.
Set your sending rules
Choose your quiet hours, and check how Smart Sending and opt-outs protect your list.
Send your first campaign
Go to Campaigns > New campaign, pick an audience, write your email or text, choose the send time and launch.
New workspaces see a SmartyTap checklist: Personalize Smartytap setup (how people opt in, which channels you'll use and your monthly email volume), Configure sender identity, Import contacts and Draft your first lifecycle flow. It follows the same order as this page.
Pricing
SmartyTap Starter is $20/month and Pro is $199/month. Texts cost 2¢ per part, paid from SMS credits you top up in Settings > Settings > Balance & Billing. See SmartyTap pricing.
A note on send time
You choose when each message goes out: in one time zone, or at the same local time for each recipient. SmartyTap doesn't guess a send time for you; it sends when you tell it to, and holds texts during quiet hours.
