Subscription widget

Add the Chargezen subscription widget to your Shopify product pages, choose a template, set its wording and look, and add offers before add to cart.

The subscription widget is the purchase box on your product pages where shoppers choose one-time or subscribe, pick a delivery frequency and add to cart. It's where most subscriptions start, so it pays to make it clear. Open Subscriptions → Customer experience → Subscription widget.

Set it up

1

Create a widget

Choose Create widget, then Use template on Product widget (a compact purchase box for any product page) or Variant cards (variant cards, one-time or subscription, and offers before add to cart).

2

Edit the wording and look

Work through the editor sections (Content, Layout, Behavior, Style and more). Use Previewing to pick a product and the desktop and mobile buttons to check both sizes.

3

Choose where it shows

In Publish, enter a Widget name (only you see it) and set Show on to All products or Specific products.

4

Save

Choose Save.

5

Add the block to your theme

Under On your store, choose Add the block in Shopify. In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Customize, open a product template, add the Chargezen product widget or Chargezen variant cards block, and save the theme.

Start from a plan

In a plan's Storefront widget card, Customize widget opens the widget for that plan's products, or starts a new one.

Product widget options

  • Content: button text (Add to cart, Buy now), the one-time option's title and subtitle, the subscription option's title, subtitle and Delivery selector label, and the quantity label. Starts as "One-time purchase", "Subscribe and save" and "Pause, skip, or cancel anytime."
  • Layout: show or hide vendor, product title, price, variant picker, one-time and subscription options, delivery selector, quantity selector, Add to cart and Buy now.
  • Behavior: Selected by default (Auto, One-time or Subscription), Shown first, quantity limits, and whether the widget shows variant media or updates the theme's product image.
  • Rules: Allow preorders with a confirmation popup, Confirm before purchase with a warning message, Discount this product with a label and percent off, and Offer all variants as a bundle.
  • Style: button colors and text, text colors, selection colors, surfaces and borders.

Variant cards options

  • Content: the one-time and subscription cards, button text, sold-out wording and the currency symbol. In the subscription title, {{savings}} becomes the amount saved.
  • Layout: prices, variant cards and columns, which cards and buttons show.
  • Offers: add Bundle (try them all), Upsell, Buy more, Sell as another variant or Preorder. Each has Show this offer and stays off until its required fields are filled in. An upsell can offer another offer if declined, or nothing.
  • Variants: order cards by lowest price, highest price or a custom order; rename, hide or show a variant as sold out.
  • Behavior: Selected by default; Auto selects subscription on /start and /pay links and one-time everywhere else.
  • Style and Custom CSS: colors, corners, typography, and CSS loaded after the widget's own styles (start selectors with #ketonaid-widget).

Which widget a product uses

A widget set to All products shows on every product unless a product has its own widget. When several specific widgets include the same product, the higher Priority wins.

The widgets list shows each widget's Type, Template, Status, Scope and Offers. Use Filter for All, Active or Draft widgets, and the row menu to Edit or Delete.

Troubleshooting

The widget doesn't show on my product page

  • Check the block is added to the product template you use, and that you saved the theme.
  • Check the widget is set to show on that product, or on All products.
  • Check another widget with that product doesn't have a higher priority.

The widget shows, but not my subscription option

  • The plan must be Active, include the product, and have the Online Store channel on. A plan hidden from the Online Store isn't offered by any widget.
  • Add products to the plan so shoppers can subscribe from their product pages.

The widget won't save

Name the widget, and choose at least one product or show it on every product.
