Passwordless sign-in

How subscribers sign in to the Chargezen portal without a password, how to choose code or ZIP checks, and how sign-in links in emails work.

Last updated: 2026-10-18

Subscribers never need to set or remember a password. They sign in with their email and a one-time code, or tap a sign-in link in one of your emails. Fewer locked-out customers means fewer support emails and fewer cancellations out of frustration. You set this up in the launcher and in subscription settings.

Set it up

1

Choose the sign-in check

In Concierge → Deploy → Launcher → Customize Squircle, open the launcher settings and go to Authentication. Pick a Mode.

2

Set the same rule for Concierge

In Concierge settings, under Customer authentication, choose the Authentication mode Concierge uses before it makes changes for a customer.

3

Set the portal address and link rules

In Subscriptions → Billing & automation → Subscription settings → Billing, set the Customer portal URL and the sign-in link options, then choose Save.

4

Put a portal link in your emails

Add the portal link to your subscription emails and texts. See Subscription notifications.

Options explained

Launcher sign-in mode

  • Email + shipping ZIP, then email code: subscribers enter their email and shipping ZIP code; a code is sent if needed.
  • Email code only: a code is sent to their email every time.
  • Accept any shipping ZIP: lets subscribers in with their email alone.

Concierge customer authentication

  • Strict: email code every time.
  • Light: email + shipping ZIP first, code fallback.
  • Accept any shipping ZIP (email-only sign-in).
  • Customer portal URL: where sign-in links send subscribers. It must start with https://. Leave it blank to use your storefront.
  • Sign-in links work once: each link signs a subscriber in one time only.
  • Don't remember sign-ins from links: a subscriber who signs in from a link stays signed in for 24 hours instead of 30 days.
Links in every email

In email templates, the customer portal link field takes subscribers straight to their portal. In texts, use Manage subscription link.

Troubleshooting

A subscriber didn't get their code

Ask them to check their spam folder and to use the same email address they subscribed with.

If Sign-in links work once is on, a link that was already used won't sign in again. The subscriber can sign in with their email and a code instead.

The portal URL won't save

Enter a full address that starts with https://.
