Customer portal

What subscribers can change themselves in the Chargezen customer portal, and how to customize it.

Last updated: 2026-10-09

The customer portal lives in the Chargezen launcher on your storefront. Customers sign in with a one-time code instead of a password, then manage their subscriptions alongside their orders, profile and rewards.

What subscribers can do

  • Skip the next order, moving it to the following cycle.
  • Order now: charge and place the next order immediately.
  • Change product: swap an item for another product you allow.
  • Change quantity of an item.
  • Reschedule the upcoming billing date.
  • Change frequency within the range you allow.
  • Pause and cancel, with a preview of what happens to the next order and billing first.
  • Restart a cancelled subscription.

Plans and products in the portal

Subscribers can only switch to plans with the Portal channel turned on (see Create subscription plans), and only swap to the products you set up for swapping.

Cancellation reasons

When a subscriber cancels, the portal asks why. You manage the list of reasons in Chargezen, and each cancellation records the reason the customer chose.

Customize the wording

Every label, dialog and confirmation in the portal can be rewritten in the Customer Surface Customizer, so the portal speaks in your brand's voice.

Changes apply to the Shopify contract

For subscriptions Chargezen bills, every change a subscriber makes updates their Shopify subscription contract directly, so your Shopify admin and Chargezen show the same subscription.
