Billing schedule

Set the hour and weekday subscriptions bill, add billing day rules and prepaid cycles, realign active subscriptions, and give one subscription its own schedule.

Last updated: 2026-10-18

By default each subscription renews on its own interval, at midnight in your time zone. If you ship on set days or want every renewal on the same weekday, change it in Subscriptions → Billing & automation → Subscription settings, on the Billing tab.

Set a store-wide schedule

1

Pick the hour

Choose a Billing hour. Subscriptions are charged at this hour in your workspace time zone.

2

Pick a billing day

Choose a weekday in Billing day, or keep No fixed day. Add Billing day rules if some variants, plans or countries need a different day.

3

Save

Choose Save. New renewals follow the schedule; charges already scheduled keep their date.

4

Move existing subscriptions (optional)

Choose Realign active contracts and confirm. Active subscriptions move to their next allowed billing day. Charges due today and subscriptions retrying a failed payment keep their date. The button works once your billing day changes are saved.

The same tab has the Upcoming charge reminder, sign-in link settings and Inventory guard. See Upcoming charge reminder, Passwordless sign-in and Price changes and stock.

Give one subscription its own schedule

On a subscription, under Upcoming orders, choose Edit billing schedule. Pick one:

  • Follow the workspace schedule, which shows your billing day and hour.
  • Bill on its own interval, with no fixed billing day.
  • Use a custom day or hour for this subscription, then pick a Billing day and Billing hour.

Choose Save billing schedule. The confirmation shows the next charge date.

Prepaid cycles change charge dates

Adding a prepaid billing cycle changes when prepaid customers are charged. Check a few prepaid subscriptions' next charge dates after you save.

Troubleshooting

Realign active contracts is grayed out

Save your billing day changes first.

One subscription ignores the billing day

It has its own schedule, which always wins. Open it and set Edit billing schedule to follow the workspace schedule.

Charges run at the wrong time

The billing hour uses your workspace time zone. Check your store's time zone, then the billing hour.
