Shopify customer accounts
Subscribers manage subscriptions inside Shopify customer accounts, and your team acts on them from the Shopify admin customer page.
Last updated: 2026-10-18
If your store uses Shopify's new customer accounts, Chargezen adds a Subscriptions page there, so subscribers manage everything where they already check their orders. Chargezen also adds a card and an action to the customer page in your Shopify admin, so your team can help without switching apps.
Set it up
Set what subscribers can do
The Subscriptions page follows Settings → Subscriptions → Self-Service Permissions. See Customer portal.
Add the upcoming orders block
In Shopify, go to Settings → Customer accounts and use the editor to add the Chargezen Upcoming Charge block to the Orders page.
Check it as a customer
Sign in to your store's customer account with a test subscription and open an order that has one. You'll see Manage subscription.
What subscribers see
The Subscriptions page
- Pause, Resume, Skip next order and Cancel.
- Change your subscription: Change delivery frequency, Change quantity, Swap product, Change next order date and Add a discount code.
- Change payment method and Edit shipping address.
- Show upcoming orders, with skip and unskip for each order.
Changing the payment method and adding a discount code are always available. Other actions show only when Self-Service Permissions allow them.
Cancelling
Subscribers who cancel see a Before you go step with your save offers, and can choose No thanks, cancel. If a subscription can't be cancelled yet, they see the date they can cancel from.
On their orders
- Orders that include a subscription show Manage subscription in the order's actions.
- The Upcoming orders block lists each scheduled order with its date and estimated total, and a Manage subscription link.
In your Shopify admin
On a customer's page in Shopify:
- The Chargezen card shows the customer's subscriptions (status and next date), loyalty, store credit, Spark! and their latest conversation, with Take action and Open in Chargezen.
- More actions → Chargezen asks "What do you want to do?": Skip next order, Pause subscription (with a switch to email the customer), Adjust loyalty points, Text customer and Give store credit.
Options that don't apply say why, for example "No active subscription", "Loyalty program is off" or "No phone number in Chargezen".
Troubleshooting
Some actions are missing on the Subscriptions page
Check Self-Service Permissions. If subscribers see "Some options aren't available right now. Try again later.", Chargezen couldn't load the settings at that moment; reloading the page usually brings them back.
The Chargezen card says the customer isn't in Chargezen yet
Chargezen doesn't have a record for this customer yet. The card fills in once the customer is in Chargezen, for example after they subscribe.
Subscribers see "No subscriptions purchased"
Check that they're signed in with the same email they subscribed with.
