Tracking Links Overview

Create and manage affiliate tracking links in Spark!

Last updated: 2026-01-19

Tracking links are the foundation of affiliate marketing. Spark! provides powerful link creation and management tools that help affiliates promote your products while you accurately attribute every sale.

How Tracking Works

When someone clicks an affiliate link:

  1. Spark! records the click with affiliate ID, timestamp, and device info
  2. A first-party cookie is set with the referral information
  3. The visitor is redirected to your store
  4. If they purchase within the cookie window, the sale is attributed
  5. Commission is calculated and credited to the affiliate
First-Party Tracking

Spark! uses first-party cookies (set on your domain) for reliable tracking that isn't affected by third-party cookie blocking in Safari and Firefox.

  • Deep Links — Link directly to specific products, collections, or pages
  • Vanity URLs — Memorable slugs like /ambassador-sarah
  • Link Cloaking — Hide affiliate parameters for cleaner URLs
  • Link Expiration — Set links to expire after a date or number of clicks
  • A/B Testing — Test different landing pages for the same link

Affiliates can create and manage their own links from the self-service portal:

  • Generate links to any product or collection
  • Create QR codes instantly
  • View click and conversion stats per link
  • Bulk create links via CSV upload
