Affiliate Tiers

Create performance-based tiers to reward top affiliates

Last updated: 2026-01-19

Tiers motivate affiliates to perform better by offering increasing rewards for higher performance. Spark! supports automatic tier progression based on configurable metrics.

Tier Benefits

Each tier can offer different benefits:

  • Higher Commission Rates — Increased percentage or flat-rate commissions
  • Exclusive Products — Access to promote limited or unreleased items
  • Priority Support — Faster response times and dedicated contacts
  • Early Payouts — Shorter payout cycles for top tiers
  • Custom Links — Vanity URLs and branded short links
  • Product Seeding — Free products for content creation

Tier Criteria

Define how affiliates qualify for each tier:

Example Tier Structure

Starter: 0-10 sales/month → 10% commission
Pro: 11-50 sales/month → 15% commission + priority support
Elite: 51-100 sales/month → 20% commission + weekly payouts
Partner: 100+ sales/month → 25% commission + product seeding + dedicated manager

Criteria can be based on:

  • Sales Count — Number of attributed orders
  • Revenue Generated — Total GMV driven
  • Commission Earned — Total commissions paid
  • Conversion Rate — Clicks to sales ratio
  • Time Period — Rolling 30 days, calendar month, or lifetime

Automatic Progression

Spark! automatically moves affiliates between tiers:

  • Promotion — Instantly when they hit the threshold
  • Demotion — After configurable grace period (e.g., 2 months below threshold)
  • Notifications — Email affiliates when tier changes
Grace Periods

Set a grace period before demoting affiliates to avoid frustration from one slow month. Two months is a good default—long enough to recover, short enough to maintain tier integrity.

Manual Tier Assignment

Override automatic tiers for special cases:

  • VIP Partners — Manually assign top tier to strategic partners
  • Influencer Deals — Custom tiers for negotiated partnerships
  • New Affiliates — Start promising affiliates at higher tiers
  • Locked Tiers — Prevent automatic demotion for key partners

Tier Analytics

Track tier performance in your analytics dashboard:

  • Revenue breakdown by tier
  • Tier progression/demotion rates
  • Average time to reach each tier
  • Correlation between tier and engagement
