TikTok clip verification

Creators connect TikTok in their Spark! portal and submit clips. Spark! checks each clip is theirs, flags problems and keeps view counts up to date.

When a creator submits a TikTok, you want to know three things: that it’s really their video, that it follows your brief, and how it’s doing. Spark! answers all three by reading the clip from the creator’s own TikTok account. No screenshots of view counts, no copied links you can’t trust.

Creators connect their TikTok account

1

Start the connection

In their Spark! portal, the creator goes to Settings → Integrations → TikTok, or chooses Connect TikTok while submitting a clip.

2

Approve on TikTok

TikTok opens and asks the creator to let Spark! read their profile and videos. They approve, and come back to the portal showing Connected.

3

Disconnect any time

The creator can disconnect from the same place. Clips they already submitted keep their history, but view counts stop updating until they connect again.

Two kinds of TikTok connection

Creators connect their own TikTok account so Spark! can verify their clips. Your brand connects a TikTok ads account separately, to run Spark Ads. See TikTok Spark Ads.

How a creator submits a clip

  1. On a campaign they’ve joined, the creator starts a submission and picks TikTok Video.
  2. They choose the clip from the list of videos on their connected account, or paste a full TikTok link (one with /video/ in it).
  3. Optional: the Product the clip features, the tracking Link and the discount Code they used (for example SPARK20).

The hashtags and mentions the clip needs come from the brief the creator picks. Without a connected TikTok account, a TikTok clip can’t be submitted.

Ownership verification

As soon as the clip is submitted, Spark! asks TikTok for that video through the creator’s connected account. If TikTok returns it, the clip belongs to them. Spark! also saves the caption, thumbnail, length and canonical link from TikTok.

StatusWhat it means
Verification PendingSpark! hasn’t heard back from TikTok yet.
Verified OwnerTikTok returned the video for the creator’s connected account. The clip is theirs, and view counts start syncing.
Owner MismatchTikTok didn’t return this video for the connected account. Someone else posted it, or the creator connected a different account.
Private or DeletedThe video was made private or deleted, or TikTok can no longer find it.
UnavailableTikTok couldn’t be reached or didn’t return the video this time. Spark! tries again in 30 minutes.

View counts and engagement

For every verified clip, Spark! syncs views, likes, comments and shares from TikTok about every six hours. If a sync fails, it tries again in 30 minutes. A creator can also refresh a clip’s numbers from their portal.

If a clip later goes private or is deleted, the next sync marks it Private or Deleted and it stops counting as eligible. If the creator’s TikTok connection lapses, the clip shows a sync error until they reconnect.

Quality flags

Every TikTok submission in LaunchPad → Submissions carries quality flags so you can spot problems before you approve. A clip with a critical flag doesn’t pass. A clip with “No quality flags” is clean.

FlagSeverityWhat it means
Duplicate videoCriticalAnother submission already uses this TikTok video.
Wrong creator accountCriticalThe ownership check didn’t match the creator’s connected account.
Private or deleted videoCriticalTikTok reports the clip as private, deleted or inaccessible.
Video unavailableWarningTikTok didn’t return the video during the last check.
Verification pendingWarningOwnership and views haven’t been checked yet.
Metrics need syncWarningViews haven’t synced in the last 24 hours.
Caption misses briefWarningThe caption is missing a required hashtag or mention, named in the flag.
Missing tracking linkWarningAn affiliate campaign clip has no tracking link, so clicks and orders can’t be credited.

Reviewing clips

In Submissions, the TikTok Clips view lists only TikTok submissions. Filter by verification status, play the clip in the preview, and check the brief, campaign, product, tracking link and metrics. Then Approve, Request Clip Revision with feedback, or Reject. When a creator sends a new version, Spark! verifies it again.

LaunchPad → Analytics ranks your clips in a leaderboard, so you can see which creators’ videos are pulling the most views.

Ready for ads

Only approved clips with Verified Owner status can be promoted as Spark Ads. Fix flags first.

Common questions

Why does a clip say Owner Mismatch?

The creator is connected with a different TikTok account from the one that posted the video. Ask them to connect the right account and resubmit, or request a clip revision.

Short share links don’t include the video number. Ask them to pick the clip from their connected account, or paste the full link with /video/ in it.
